Hi,

On the ride home the front brake began grinding. I stopped and checked. It felt loose but otherwise ok. I was able to ride home. On the center stand with the front tire raised the tire will spin freely with a soft rubbing noise from the brake.

Take a look at the attached pictures. I can't visualize how it's supposed to look but it seems like I'm missing something. Pictures attached.

Am I missing a bolt? If so a picture/description/part number of what I need to replace it please!

Or am I over-thinking it and just need to tighten the two mounting bolts?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Definitely something has fallen off. Should look like my brake below!!!

To ride or not to ride... That is the question!

Went out and looked at the front brake on my C5.  Yes, you appear to be missing a part.  There should be a guide pin on the end of the bolt visible in your pictures - it extends into that notched 'ear' on the opposite pad.

Neither of my paper catalogs show the part.

The pdf "Parts list" I have does not list it as an individual item, but part of the "Mounting Bracket Assembly" (p/n: 560583).

Ok. Damn. Not a simple bolt. I'll have to hit up my local shop tomorrow!  Thanks.

Because the missing part is a part of the Mounting Bracket Assembly,  if the motorcycle is still under warranty, replacing the entire assembly should be covered.

It is not meant to come apart and the fact that it did makes it a defective part the way I see it.

I agree. I've been pretty good about checking the mounting bolts, etc. for tightness.. I hadn't thought to start on the assembly.

I have an Enfie shop nearby. We'll see what they say.

Definately don't ride it! I crashed & totaled my Kawasaki W650 last year due to a front disc grabbing & locking up, going into a corner. Lucky to crawl away from that one, with only a ruptured rotator cup (Left shoulder/arm). Never had a problem with front drum brakes for 40 years. Discs can be potentially dangerous!
Best Wishes, Craig McClure

Yeah it's parked. I have both the local shop in Memphis and one further afield seeing if it's a warranty item or not. Mike's Cycle out in Waynesboro is even looking to see if they have an extra part laying around the shop that they can mail me.

So I started a new thread explaining how in the pursuit of checking if this was a warranty item I learned that both of the nearest (15 and 150 miles) Enfield shops have parted ways with RE for various reasons.

The good news is that Mike's in Waynesboro made the bolt on their lathe and are mailing it to me!

They're big on customer service and I'm glad there are still shops like this around.

Awesome.
