I was visiting India and travelled to a few cities in North and South of the country. The trip was excellent and weather perfect. A lot of things have changed since I first left that place. Some places I could not recognise and others still have the same feel of country side (pind in Punjabi). A lot of pleasant and loving experiences with friends and family that enriched our trip. Lots of pictures, videos were taken.

Here are a few of an RE dealer and its service station repairing a Thunderbird.

Saw one RE converted to a Fire Engine for driving into narrow lanes of a town.

Met a happy RE rider, and saw that the oil window on his motorcycle had a circlip - a good idea.

Nice looking shop! Those guys are sure loving the bumper grabbers over there! Thank you for the photos, Singh.

I assume you mean the crash/case guards?  Tell me about it.  Bullet riders with no helmet in flip-flops take a short break from talking on their cell phones at speed to wave me down and tell me how suicidally unsafe it is to be riding without one.

I've watched a friend have an overtaking autorickshaw catch his engine guard and flip him about 120 degrees...

Interesting pictures Singh, thanks for posting.

Comments.

All Indian RE's have 7" headlight
Thunderbird is not exported to US?  Probably same engine as ours.  It has a tach?
I saw C5's but didn't seen any B5's in your pictures?
There are some that look like G5's but not really?

@Bare and @Jim -  Thanks.

India offers a wide variety of experiences of all kinds.  I will share a few here.

My son bought a disposable razor at a store and the shop keeper gave it in a paper bag.  When I looked at the bag, it had a Florida US address printed on it. I realised it was made of the 'junk' mail that we get everyday here which  somehow reached India where it was converted into a paper bag.

Saw Thunderbird 500 cc and it does have a tachometer.

There was another model 'Electra' UCE which was different from the AVL 'Electra' we used to get in US.

Did not see any G5 there. I think there was a B5 on the floor.

Another interesting experience was while driving to a village, we suddenly saw a couple of large elephants walking on the side of the road. We pulled on the side of the road and stopped. These animals belonged to a small group of 'sadhus' - wandering monks. Talked to them and they let us take pictures and pat them. We give them a small gift of Rs100 which is $2US.

This Classic 500 was standing in a parking lot, its Rectifier Regulator was under the seat, behind the battery.

I think the US ones are probably the only ones that come with those crappy 5 and whatever POSs. The gummint in all it's "wisdom" mandates that road vehicles will have adjustable headlights. So we have to put up with the silly rims with the three holes to get to the adjuster screws.

Mattsz:

There are a lot of them.

One can buy paper rolls most places, but the toilets in homes are paperless. Instead it has a water spray jet from behind that cleans the bottom. The water in spray is manually controlled by a separate tap. This is an inexpensive yet effective Indian version of very hi-tech Japanese Washlet Toto toilets which are paperless and use water spary to clean and then blow air to dry the bottom (all controlled by electric circuits).
