I think you're only allowed to wear it while riding vintage mopeds.  Think about it, the blue smoke lets you show off the trident lasers!

It's funny, though--that helmet is part of some giveaway, and the Indian rider club I belong to is sharing it all over Facebook since it's the coolest thing EVER and would be awesome to wear on an Enfield.

For $800 I'll pass on that. The wife and I looked at these once, along with other custom jobs. Ended up settling on a pair of Torc helmets with built in bluetooth. Kinda nice getting gps turn by turn in my helmet.

I actually went to see that video.  Wasted a whole minute of my life on it, before I realized it wasn't a joke: that guy really is sad that his cool helmet wasn't making him happy.

sigh...

It'd be kinda cool to see a MotoGP or WSBK rider sporting one of those.  :D  Probably not real conducive to visibility though.  I need to go watch Predator again.

I was 9 years old when the grown ups in the house put that movie in the VCR. It went on to haunt me at night time for the following few months. It is still scary, if I think about it lol. Even to this day If we're bush walking or are travelling on a country road surrounded by dense vegetation, the only thought that comes to mind is - 'I think we're being watched by da Preds'  ::)  :-X

Seriously, watching that video of the guy tearing the helmet apart was kind of sad.  It's supposed to be an $800 motorcycle helmet and the construction/quality is equivalent to a $15 Wal-Mart bicycle helmet.  I definitely would never trust it to save my head!

The cork lined Davida is a far better helmet. Looks better, too!

I've been riding with one of my mechanics.
He keeps telling me how cool his helmet is with Blue Tooth, GPS, his tunes, etc.
I think that kind of takes away from the experience. I like the relative quiet of my rides with no distractions, and in fact getting lost or missing a turn is half the fun for me.

To answer questions, No I'm not kidding. They sync together so she and I can talk as needed.

I ride daily, to work and back, and any errands that I'm running I'll end up riding year round unless there's ice on the ground. I have a truck but the bike is my primary vehicle. One of the concessions that you make for these bikes is the very noticeable lack of power. In order to avoid interstate driving, I end up taking a lot of back roads. While I don't mind getting lost on the rare occasion I'm out just puttering about on the weekend, having microsoft anna pop up in my helmet and tell me turn left here is a blessing, cause I don't want to find myself in deliveranceville at the corner of yousuregotapurdymouth ave and squeallikeapig drive. More importantly, I don't want to be late for whatever I'm going to do, which is typically why I'm riding. And the silence is fine for the first hour, but after a couple of hours of SHHHHHHHH I end up singing anyway, and if someone's going to sing to me, It's better that it be Tool than my off key voice.

Point taken.
As for me, after dealing with incessant phone activity for 7 days straight, it's really a blessing for me to have the peace of an hour or more of silence when I ride. No wrong numbers, no vendors, no survey takers, no boss, no fiance, no pilots.  :)

Every now and then I'll bust out the MP3 player loaded with Death Metal and rip up the highway.  But for the most part, I want to be able to hear the cars around me and not be distracted.  Most states it is actually illegal to operate a vehicle on public roads with head phones in your ears.  FYI

What Scottie said.  Me, my thoughts, and paying attention.  Almost locked up Sunday when an Escalade did a hard left in front of me, but not being distracted I was prepared and had a workable out.  Music or chit chat? I might've been scraped off the side of a Cadillac.

I can see where you come from on that point. I don't get much in the way of calls nowadays. so it's no skin off my back. Oh and I can take calls too, although the wind noise makes it pointless past 40 mph. Also the speakers are built into the helmet. They aren't the same as headphones and i typically don't turn it up loud enough to make it so I can't hear what's going on around me as well.

Ease up, guys!  benknrobbers didn't say anything about taking phone calls or listening to music - he mentioned GPS and his wife!  ;)  Audible directions, and the ability to communicate with a passenger could arguably remove distraction...

I don't think anyone was was trying to offend anyone else.  I think Bluetooth helmets are cool.  I'd just rather hear my bike and traffic, that's all.  I mean it would be nice to have turn by turn directions right in my ear.  Personally I'd rather have a map in a tank bag than wait for my GPS to tell me "signal lost" 50 miles from no where.  I'll be honest, I've become TOO dependent on technology.

When I hear about a GPS giving directions I'm reminded of Noisymilk's tale of him and a buddy riding scooters from Mesa, Arizona into Canada.  (Noisymilk is one of our brother members here on the RE forum.)

After showing several non-existent roads they renamed it "Bob".
Comments like, "Shell we see what Bob says?" became common.

Not to hijack this topic but Noisymilks description and photos of that adventure are great.

lol, This reminds me of our gps in my truck. It's a magellan, we call her mag. Mag gets confused and tells us there are roads that aren't really there.
