For anyone who loves kickstarters, hates EFI, and thinks they just don't make 'em like they used to...

Thank god.

Now there's 17 minutes of my life I'll never get back!
the guy was a glutton for punishment. I would've been trying a lot of stuff that didn't include pointless kicking a lot sooner did, since he really never did anything. He had been using the compression all along, why, when they showed him pulling the lever did it start?
Ah, good old BSAs, aka Bastard Stopped Again. Yeah, I know it said Triumph on the tank, but these were left over BSAs when they went out of business.
Did you notice where snail adjusters are supposed to be? And believe me, they work a lot better on the swing arm pivot!
I'd give the production a C- and only that high because they did use a Genuine British Thumper!

Hilarious slow burn then total meltdown. When he drop kicked his helmet I nearly wet myself.

Not really. Eventually he rode off, so he never learned the part of Acceptance.

Ergo: he failed.

Oh no, he will have to go through it all again...  ::)

Such sweet memories of back in the day.  I could just kick myself for getting rid of my BSA.  It kept me mean, lean and good looking too.  Now I'm old, fat and ugly, it's true.  If I only had kept my BSA.  Just think of the possibilities of how I could be looking today.  I could just kick myself for getting rid of that, I love you, I hate you, BSA.

The BSA I speak of was a 1966 BSA 441, much like the Triumph in the video.  Truly a love hate relationship I had with that machine, but mostly love.

Someday, maybe, I'll tell you the true story of a marathon, cross-county motorcycle journey and adventure mishap, I took on a 1972, Triumph TR-7.  After that trip, I purchased a 1973 BMW 750/5.  My adventure mishaps were over.  Only marathon, cross-county journeys were left.

Cheers,
Bill

I no longer own my 1979 Yamaha SR500 street racer for the same reason. Its starting likelihood was unpredictable. Unlike my 1958 BSA Goldstar, which was always a reliable 2 kick runner. My only complaints with it were a tendency to "wet Sump". Annoying but manageable.
My right foot & ankle have big screws in them from about 40 years of motorcycling. Electric Start is so nice, & such a luxery for a big single fan, who is past his prime. Rogues Gallery attached.
Best Wishes, Craig McClure

I had some BSAs that liked to do that to me, along with, not so much my SR500, but the TT500 could leave me down in a hole with no power to get me out! My Goldstar was pretty good at starting, however before I put the Boyer on it, the Nortless was a real bear to start. It was fine with the Boyer, but all the other things that had to be taken care of it caused me to sell it, as I was tired of being reminded of what the Good Old Days were really like! Definitely have gotten pro for good ignition, EFI, and thumb starters! I like to work on my bike when I want to, not when it makes me do it!

Yep, had an Allstate Puch that did me that way many times.  Took me a long time to figure out the condenser was bad.  Cold it would run just fine, then once it got good and hot, no start.

Pushed that Puch a lot.
