Although this forum is hardbound edition of information on the UCE, I feel there is no dedicated thread on engine oils,
therefore I am laying foundation for one.

To begin with which is the most preferred oil for the UCEs
Mineral, Semisynthetic or Full Synthetic. Preferred brands.

I use Mobil1 Full Synthetic V-twin 20w50, change it about every 200 2,000 miles.  I like full synthetics for air cooled bikes since they handle the higher temperatures of an air cooled engine with less breakdown.  RE recommends 15w50 but since I'm rarely out in temps below freezing 20w50 is fine.  Probably overkill to change it as often as I do but it's cheap and lets me sleep a little better.

I use Mobil 1 V-Twin Synthetic and change it about every 3500-4000 miles as the book recommends. 16,000 miles. Used about a 1/2 cup through the last 4000 miles.

I should mentiont there's no special reason I picked the 'V-Twin' formula other than it's all Mobil1 makes in a moto formula at the weight I want.  The other option I've seen is 10w40 and it's called 4T Racing or some such.

The difference is that  V-Twin is formulated for air cooled engines, 4-T is for watercooled ones.

I use Crisco vegetable oil.  Lol  Sorry, couldn't resist.

Right now I'm using Mobil 1 synthetic 20-W50 bike oil.  I've been using nothing but Mobil 1 oil for the last 7 years or so and have had good luck with it.  I plan on switching to Excellerated oil on my next oil change for the cars and bike.  I'll let you know what I think of it.

With all the people saying they use Mobil-1 V-Twin here maybe we should write to Mobil and suggest they change the name to,

"Mobil-1 Big Thumper!"  ;D

I also use it in my 2011 G5 but I'm not rich like Scotty so I don't change it every 200 miles.  ::)
200 miles?  That's a oil change about every tank of gas, isn't it?  :o

Maybe a zero got lost and it was supposed to be 2000? :)

Yeah, maybe. ;)  Even if I were that rich I'd still be too lazy to change it that often.

Motul Full Synthetic 20/50 works for me.

Maybe they don't sell it in the USA but here in the UK they sell Mobil 1 Racing 4T 15W-50.  That's what I've just put in my C5 because it's the viscosity that RE recommend and it was much cheaper than the Motul oils.

Some one, not sure who, said the racing Mobile 1 oils do not have all the additives that the regular one does, since racing oils get changed after every race.

It might be here but I've never seen it.  Most stores just seem to carry the two I mentioned.

About any reputable motorcycle oil will work, semi or full synthetic. Most people have their favorites. But all the favorites are different. Just make sure it's motorcycle oil

I checked and last time I paid e56.99 for 4 liters; 1 liter would be even more.
Best price I found on the net was eur 44.95 per 4 ltrs / eur 11.25 a liter, shipping not included. I dare not make the conversion to us$. :'(

Luckily my E5 hardly burns any oil between services.  ;)
