Snug both sides up slowly and evenly, going back and forth from side to side.  After you have them fairly snug start to crank on them.

ERC, does this drain plug for the oil tank apply to the 1955 trailblazer 500 also? Cause we are having the same trouble, :-\

Got it figured it out.   Out process of elimination, the last few times I parked the bike I sat the pistons to TDC.  It was definitely wet sumping.  Last 3 times I've started the bike the blow by has been normal.  Thanks guys!

Yes AB it's the same set up to drain the oil.  ERC

On the twins the most likely reason for wet sumping is the seam on the oil tank leaks into the crankcase. The bullets leak from the cam cover side because that area is filled with oil all the time where the twins are pretty much empty.  ERC

Well I have another question, I can start the 500 trailblazer motor, an it starts really good, no blow by at all, an all new oil,but the longer it runs...it starts the worse it gets...starts showing low on stick, an starts coming out blow by tube...can it be leaking over into crankcase some how? An if so what do I take apart to check? Please help... Anyone lol!

The best thing to do is fill the oil tank up to the full mark level on your dip stick. let it sit overnite or longer and see if it goes down with the bike just sitting. If it does then you've got a leak between the oil tank and crankcase. The only repair then is tear the motor down to seal it.   ERC

To ERC... Thanks you've been very helpful, we are loosening oil, just from it sitting...we are waiting on a service manual to start on it :)
