Changed the stock grips and replaced with our host's Bestons.

I used boiling water... I know many already know this.  I read about it on the forum somewhere and tried it today.  Great and easy for thick, hard rubber grips!

Here's what i did:

Put both grips in the freezer overnight and then cut out the opening for the bar-end weight/mirrors.

Right side:  Slide on with wd40, easy.
Left side:  I filed / sanded the protrusions at the end of throttle tube down (I have an electra avl) so the new grip could slide over easier.  Then dropped the grip into a pot, dumped boiled water over it.  Let it sit for a few minutes, and pulled it out, then it slide over the tube like butter.  Was able to adjust for a good 5 minutes as the rubber was very workable.  Very cool!

Gotta say, this forum rocks

A couple squirts of hairspray lubes the grips long enough to slide on then secures it when dry. Stole my wife's bottle just for this purpose and never gave it back.

That's why you hear things like,

"Why are you always taking my  stuff?

Do I take your shi* and loose it?  No!

I have too much respect for your shi* but you show no respect for my stuff at all!

Now, put my hair spray back in the drawer where you found it!"

You can find a use for half of all women's toiletry items when working on projects. Mirrors, tweezers, little manicure scissors, makeup brushes (detailing), nail polish (for marking), hairspray (previously mentioned), hairdryer, those cotton disk makeup remover thingies and many more things if you rummage her stash thoroughly. I'm sure there is even a use for one of those eyelash curler things somewhere. And you know they buy gobs of this stuff and hoard it away, so much so, that if anything is missing they most likely have another or don't know that it is missing. Worry? No because my wife never enters the man cave. HA!

Hah!  Just used these today to pick out a very small washer that got dropped between case and frame.  I didnt say a word, but did wipe them down...

You forgot nail polish REMOVER!  The acetone based stuff is an excellent cleanser/degreaser in a pinch.
