I just bought an 11 bullet military. I've read the instruction manual, and I can't figure out what one of the switches on the right hand side does. it has 3 positions, one position is a dot, the middle is a p with three lines and the left looks like an upside down light bulb with 7 lines around it. I thought it had something to do with the lights, but I've tried every position, and checked every light and it seems to do nothing.

It's the headlight switch.

The forum is kinda confusing because it calls this area the Bullet Classic Models but it really is the Royal Enfield Iron Barrel area.

All of the RE Unit Construction Engine (UCE) are discussed in the UCE area.

So, how long did it take you to disconnect that stupid jumper wire and then plug in the two connectors it used to be plugged into? :)

The only thing I would suggest that is different is you don't have to remove the 3 headlight screws and the black adjustment plate. 
By removing the one screw at the top of the headlight the chrome rims and light will toggle out giving you access to the jumper wire (white ends) and the red connectors that need to be plugged together.

great vid but don't bother...

turn the bars to the left....
trace wire loom from switch to under nacelle on Rt. side....
gently tug out till you get to the 1st connector and unplug...
keep tugging till you get to the 2nd connector, unplug and
                 throw short section over your shoulder......
reconnect 2 remaining ends and tuck back up into nacelle....
    switch now werks, can be done in less than a minute!!

Lol, I think Royal Enfield is kinda confusing :D like 10 different models of what is essentially the exact same bike :D

Actually I probably won't remove it. Over the years I've been cut off, pushed around and nearly run over more times than I care to remember. at this point I'm convinced that anything that I can do to improve visibility is a good thing. actually looking to install one of the brake light flasher.

You'll find the advantage when you have to work on the bike with the switch on, it's nice not to have the headllight running the battery down.

IMO, just because the jumper is removed doesn't mean a person can't ride with his light switch in the "Headlight" position at all times if he/she chooses.

On cold mornings, I think it's nice to be able to turn the lights off before starting the engine.  That extra 50+ watts of power from the cold battery seems to help get things started. :)
