Its been a while. My bikes been off the road since August last year. The Engines been done for a while now and is still at the mechanics. Shes got new rings, put the 19 tooth sprocket on as well. Ill be re fitting the Engine myself. I have a feeling it should be easier to get in than it was to get out. Its a tight fit.
Ill be buying an Ace air filter Canister. Ive put new throttle cables on. played around with the Muffler somewhat to make her a bit quieter. Ive also got a nice chrome brake plate to put on however i need to widen the cambolt thread on it. Other little mods will be an cruise control thing ive seen on this website and the coffee cup holder! the new website looks great btw. Anyone tried the cruise control?? Im going to be doing even more miles on the bike now and some highway riding so i thought id give that a go.
The Australian Importers UMI havent billed the mechanic for the cases or the freight for the parts. So my costs for all this work are just labour for the mechanic. its pretty low cost at about $800. For this i get the new cases, rings, bearings and seals. KInda a recon engine.
So i must send UMI a thank you case of beers for this. My 2012 C5 is before their time and yet they have really been very accommodating and generous. They didnt have to do this at all. We did have some kinda heated discussions over the whole issue, but in the end im a firm believer in "actions speak louder than words" and that's what counts here as well as in any other situation. If it were to happen again i certainly would have sourced the parts myself and done the work through a mechanic myself. Was def a mistake to get RE involved and i do hope that UMI get something back for this as they are absorbing about $600 costs.
Anyway...Its all good. Ill no doubt be on here soon asking for advice from the RE gurus once more. THanks in advance!
