So I have the worst case of prolapsed hemroids my gastro doc has every seen in his entire career. He said he couldn't believe I was able to do anything like walk or even sit so needless to say I am not on vicoden. I go the 26th to see this lady for and exam, she is a colon rectal surgeon. I have no idea when I will have surgery but I know I will be having to have it soon. I guess I was worse off back there then I realized.  I have had this for over 10 years but the past year has really kinda got me bad. At least it isn't a prolapsed rectum like was thought by my GP. My doc remembered I had rode to my appointments back this summer and fall and asked me how far away is my house. I don't know the mileage but I told him it is 45 minutes one way and he cringed. Then he said you haven't been riding after you aunts funeral have you (I had to ride 360+mile round trip for it and I did on the C5) so I was like yeah I just rode a week ago. He asked if I was a masochist. huh really? well maybe in truth I am a little bit but that was kinda raw asking me that. I don't get offended easily so I took that as a compliment being as screwed up in the head that I am.

Ok any one in the last few years have to have this done? I don't need details just how bad is the surgery gonna suck? Be honest please. I have never had a surgery before the closest thing to one was when I had a colonoscopy four years ago. I am a complete sissy because I am scared. In fact just thinking about it makes me feel kinda nauseous.

So the truth comes out I am a big coward. There goes my tough bad boy image.

The first time I went under the knife I did have some concerns, the next time I knew what to expect.

Regardless of whether they knock you out or use a local you won't feel like dancing afterwards mentally or physically so take a friend or family member with you.

I'd be scared too man, not sure if I'd be brave enough to admit it to myself or anyone else for that matter.

There's a technique in Yoga called Alternate Nostril Breathing which is well worth googling for the exact details. It has a very calming effect when the doubts and fears set in, and you can do it anywhere without it being obvious.

I think cowardice is about not facing up to our fears --  and bravery is about going through with something in spite of being scared witless.
I'd put you in the latter category - good luck.

It is only reasonable to be apprehensive about a "procedure".Having to be dragged into the O.R. screaming mite be a little cowardly.Put on yer big boy pants.

Ouch.  Have a heart - the guy's nervous and looking for some reassurance, not exactly kicking and screaming.

That's not helpful - it's hemorrhoid surgery, man, they'll only make him take 'em off again!  Seriously, BrashRooster, I wish you good luck, but you'll do fine.  As surgeries go, this one is not that big a deal.

FYI, the doc who administered my wife's first colonoscopy told her that a lot of people have trouble with hemorrhoids after the procedures...

Be sure to get your surgeon to give you a certificate once the operation is done.

It should say something like,

"Having given the entire region a through examination I hereby swear that Brash Rooster's head is not up his a$$.
Signed Dr _______________ "

 ;D

PS:  You might also ask him to look around to see if your old mans boot is still there.  :D

Yeah,ya never know.I read once of an E.R. doctor who was examining a patient complaining of anal pain. After the victim appropriately assumed the position, the doctor trained his flashlight into the target area and was momentarily blinded by the flashlight already in there.
Seriously,I truly hope everything comes out ok.

As with a lot of things in life, its never as bad as you imagine.  Your doctor probably has done this surgery many times with good results.  You will be fine.

Found the big boy pants amusing. I am anorexic 125 pounds (I was 110 pounds for a very long time) and 5'8" so I use to have to buy 28 x 30 pants (I graduated to 30x30) and unfortunately I usually couldn't find them in the mens section so I would buy them from the boys section. heh big boy pants I wear them now HA!

My gastro do said it was the worst case of prolapsed hemorrhoids he has ever seen and he has been at it a long time. That is what made me nervous. Still a bit nervous.

On the bright side once I am healed up I should be good to go on those long rides I love to go on.

No flash lights nope nope nope. I don't play lets hide things in my rectum game.

Oh I haven't seen the surgeon yet. My gastro doc had examined me and was telling me that I absolutely had to have surgery.  I am very stubborn so I thought initially he was trying to frighten me into going to see the surgeon. I know he was telling me the truth because when I was like come on man tell me there is some other options and he did but then was honest about them not likely being successful. Ok so he would have made the money from the alternatives because he would be the one preforming them. He wont be the one doing this surgery so he wont be making any money from it.

At one point he tried to pull rank on me because we are both Army veterans. I was like dude that's cheap. I reckoned that there was no way out and not having the surgery would be a bad idea and I reluctantly agreed.

I go see the surgeon the 26th and then I will find out when and what she intends to do.

Last year it was mouth this year its my ass.

Really, finding out your surgeon is a good looking babe and then saying, "Hey Doc, have a look at these little beauties!"
Watch out for the guy behind the guy in front of you
