for the first time since december my bike is finally running right so i took it on a little ride. about 105 miles and over 2 hours...weather was perfect at about 68f.
i even had a group of harley riders staring at my tank and ask if it was a triumph or bsa, i guess they couldn't read Royal enfield on the tank.

Looks like a good ride. :)

Maybe you should have told them it was made by Volocette?
Then, as you ride away, you could hear them saying, "What the hell is a Volocette?"  ;D

I rode to Lake Silverwood and then out to the high desert. The weather was cool and windy. I loved it.

You mean because of the missing wind deflector? Both hands were frozen, and both feet too -- that's why I had to stop so often. I have those little chemical handwarmer and toewarmer packs, which help some, but the real problem is in the fingertips.

Also, my right hand was sore due to holding the throttle open, my left hand was sore from a tight clutch cable, and my right foot was sore too (but for some reason not my left). Today I didn't touch the bike -- I'm letting my body rest!

A long time ago, and, far far away ...... I once owned a house in Hesperia and rode a Triumph Trident all around the rim of the world.

Those mitts are the best thing for your hands when riding in the cold.  Just make sure to get motorcycle ones.  Some of the ATV models collapse against your hands at higher speeds.

Here's the ride I took today - 43 miles, through 4 of the 5 boroughs of NYC in 2 hours. Purely utilitarian -- it was all errands. But I crossed 2 bridges and a tunnel...

Me too, but not alas.  After several weeks of too busy, too rainy, too cold, or all three I was glad for a sunny day and some time.  Any chance to ride is a good one, no matter the destination.

Had a spectacular ride today, left home and rode up into the San Gabriel mountains. Great roads, great scenery but a little breezy. 200 miles all together. It was great to get out.

I rode up to the Ben Avery shooting range to see what the folks at the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association's Western National Shoot were doing.

Rather than ride the back roads, I rode up I-17 about 35 miles.
The speed limit on this stretch of freeway is 65 mph so everyone was driving at 75-80 mph.
In order not to be hit I rode the whole distance at 65-75 mph.
The 65 was possible when I found a big 18 wheeler with an oversize load that I could follow.  Sense all of the traffic wanted to go around it they had changed lanes long before they were running up my tailpipe.
Of course, that only lasted about 5 miles before he turned off and I had to goose the bike back up to 75. :(

All in all it was a nice cool day.  Sun shining and a total of 70 miles round trip without a problem of any kind. :)

It seemed there were a lot less people competing than there has been in the past. :(
There were also fewer traders on Traders Row.  Hopefully some more competitors and traders will show up before the week end when I take a few of my rifles out there to see what I can get for them.  I'll be driving my car for that trip because when the rifle barrels are 42 inches long it's hard to pack them on my bike. :)

Oh, and this year the guy who sells Black Powder cancelled out so they are only selling powder to NMLRA members.
I'm a member but there's going to be a lot of upset people who aren't this week end.

Yeah, the last couple I went to were way down on participants. And most of the rendezvous I used to go to don't even exist any more! Unfortunately, the trader's tables usually just had a bunch of junk on them. Nice guns for sale weren't there!
Jack and I rode by one last year, but we didn't stop. Probably shoulda! It was pretty small though.

This is a fun thread, you guys, but the ride report section is getting neglected!  We gotta show those iron barrel guys how much "we're" riding!  (I'm not riding...)
