I bought a 1969 RE 500 in 2005. How can I check to see if it is an actual 1969. It didn't come with a title but I had the VIN# verified and got one. Is there anything specific to a 69 or in general that I could look for on the bike. I just want to make sure that this was made in England.

Try Graham Scarth (graham.scarth01@gmail.com)...he's with the Royal Enfield Owner's Association,in the UK,and has the factory ledgers from Redditch, and a good list of Madras (Chennai),India Enfield numbers...but ERC is right...no 500 Bullets were made in Redditch in 1969...by then, they were only making 750CC Interceptors in Bradford-on Avon,as the Redditch (near Birmingham) works had already closed...your bike could be a 1969 India-made Bullet, converted to 500CC,as only 350CC models were made in India from 1956 until the early 1990's,and all Redditch Bullets had ceased production by the early 1960's...let us know what you find out,and PLEASE post some pictures!
