Hey guys, I thought I'd stick my head back in and see if I got rocks thrown at me. Things are finally looking up, and I may start sniffing around for a C5 Military to replace my long gone and lamented red beauty.
Cheers, Dan

The return!  Welcome back!  Glad to hear you're feeling better.  Are you back working or still on early retirement?  I think I'm going to get on o' them big ok' 1925 Harley seats for my bike.  Might be good for you, I hear they are super comfy.  I'll keep you informed.  Heck, maybe I'll loan it to you if you get another C5 and want to try it.

Oh, and someone mentioned a red C5 with low miles for sale here recently.

Hi,
Yup. I have been working on some higher power stuff for the Iron Barrel Fireball builds.
AND, we're working on a UCE kit now too!
A lot of hurdles to overcome, but we are slowly progressing toward the goal.

Hey Scotty, I'm not going to be working again, but I can walk a lot better. I'm still a long way from riding on the street, but I think I'll get there. That big seat sounds like just the ticket for comfort, I'll keep my eyes open for your review of it. If I go for a C5 again, as much as I loved the red, this time it'll be a military, no more bending over to polish chrome for me.  ;D

The word is fitting a better seat and aftermarket Hagon shocks to the C5 do wonders for the back comfort.

That said, i would still not go off the pavement with back issues.

On the pavement I'd be an obstacle, weird as it sounds, all my riding is off pavement now. I have a very light trail bike with good suspension that takes fair care of me on dirt roads. I'm ride slow and stop a lot, but I still get to get a short ride in on occasion. It's the only way I stay sane. ;) Laugh if you will, but this is my mount these days, at 25-30 mph on dirt roads it makes me grin with out killing me in the process.

Yeah, it's a two wheeled Jeep  ;D. Way slower than a Royal Enfield, even at 150lbs lighter than a C5 it's all I all I want to hold up.

Lots of nice super motors on the market these days.  Small, light, great in the street with forgiving suspension.

I've been thinking about something like that, I really need to stay under 300 lbs but most motards are just to tall.

Pretty easy to lower, new dig bones, cut springs and move the spacer in the fork.

Laugh if you will...

Who would laugh at mean machine like that!?  That thing kicks ass.  XT250, right?

I've been thinking about a light, dual sport as well.  I'm not looking to cross any deserts or spend all day in the whoopties... just some nice, leisurely trail/dirt riding to go some places the street tires won't take me.

Hey boggy, it's a TW200, the lighest lowest trail bike I could find. I was actually looking for a Honda trail 90 when I found it. It's great for the stop and smell the roses crowd.

I was riding a 2010 yamaha 250 dirt bike over the summer and it was great as a offroad bike...I thought it handled fantastic, great suspension and and had enough power for the basic trail riding that I was doing.  I  thougt they came in a street model but not sure how that would fare. Riding tall in the saddle has its advantages. ;D
Oh Magoo you done it again

The TU250 is really on my radar, it's the most interesting thing I've found, But it's not a C5. I think I may just need to forget what I want, and ride what I can. At least I can say I had a Royal Enfield C5 ;D

It's a very nice bike.  Not quite as elegant as the C5 and the cylinder really needs to be upright, not slanted forward.  Still, nice bike and if it's lower/lighter/mor comfy, why not?

Looked at the Boulevard S40?  Totally different genre but nice bike and very low CG.

I had a S40 a few years ago, it was a ton of fun, but no way can I do the cruiser sitting position. If it didn't have forward controls I'd jump on it.

Yeah, the S40 and Rebel both have ridiculously forward controls.  Might be another point for the TU 250, less forward pegs than the RE.
