I have been out of motorcycling for around 10 years.  I am looking to re-enter the sport and have been looking for a good used motorcycle.  My funds are limited however.  I have looked at used bikes from Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Harley etc.  I must confess.  I keep coming back to the RE C5.  I found a 79 GS 850 Suzuki for $2600.00 in mint condition.  But since I want to learn the mechanics for motorcycling on my own, I feel an inline four would be too complicated to learn on.  I know the 500cc single of the C5 should be fairly easy to service.  Based on this idea, so far my options have been the Suzuki Tu 250 or the RE C5.  I know the two are similar in performance but the C5 looks so much better in my opinion.  I am open to any and all input.  If anyone knows of where I could find a good used RE C5 I would sure like to know.  Thanks!!!

You might want to keep an eye on the postings in this link.  (Hopefully it's OK to put it here)

As for the 850 Suzuki, IMO the 4 cylinder bikes can be a bit of a chore to work on.  The new UCE powered (2009 -2012) on the other hand are pretty easy with easy access to all of the service places.
I can only speak for my 2011 G5 but beyond changing the oil and oil filter, replacing the rear drive chain, spark plug and updating things like the headlight and turn signals to return them to the old look of the 1955-1970 era there's not a lot to do except ride it and have fun.

As for being out of riding for 10 years, I was in a similar boat.  It was amazing how quickly the old riding skills returned. :)
