I bet you can find a nice brass one with a cool motif from one of the online Indian RE spare parts folks.

The earlier UCE bikes had a blank plate like that one, my 2010 does.  Later, they started coming with the '500 EFI' marked on their.

Can the "500 EFI" side be turned inwards?

Mine is held in place with 4 flathead screws in countersunk holes.
If I tried reversing the plate so the inside was out, the screws would not have countersunk cavities to enter so they would look like 4 mushrooms growing out of the side of my engine.

I plan to make a tappet cover next year when I get the performance kit for the UCE done.
My normal practice is to make things plain, and have a logo available for people who want to put the logo on it.

Some people would feel unhappy if the logo is not on it.
Virtually every Ace Air Canister owner put the Ace logo on it himself. I just included it separately, in case they didn't want it on there, or wanted to put it in a different spot. Pretty much everybody wanted it on there, and put it there himself.
I have had people ask me to sign their engine case with an electric pencil, after I built their engine.
Some people want nothing on it at all.
It's just an individual thing.

I don't wear T-shirts with Logos on them.
Why would I want *your* name on *my* bike ?

Bragging rights when you're sitting at Starbucks all day long.  You're obviously hanging with the wrong crowd to understand this ;)

Well, one might ask the question "Why would they want the name Royal Enfield on the tank?" too.

It depends on how far each person wants to go to identify with the hardware, or scrub the identity off of it.
There's a lot of people who pay big money for a Rickman Enfield, or a Dunstall Triumph, or a Seeley Matchless, or an Egli Vincent, or a Dresda Triton, etc. They represent a step up from the OEM equipment, and people like to have the label on there.
Other people don't want anything on there.

I suppose one advantage of an "ACE" logo would be that in amongst the annoying old geezers saying "I rode one of those back before the war" and random pedestrians saying "is it an original old one" you may get to strike up a conversation with someone that actually knows Enfields.

I find the easiest way to handle it is to provide the decal and let the owner do what he wants.

I don't know guys, there is a HUGE difference in supporting the corporate machine vs an independent shop...  I know I would be proud to sport an ACE logo any day as long as the logo matched the parts of course...  One can't just slap a sticker on...
