I am planning to change the sprocket to 19T and as part of this change would also want to get the engine gasket (RH). For a 2011 C5 without kickstart what is the part# on nfieldgear website? or do I have to call them.
I read lots of folks here have done this sprocket change.
Thanks a lot!

i find it easier to call them.
also he will tell you that the 19t will cause you to modify the cover a bit.
i haven't installed mine yet.
do you have the extremely large socket yet...i think it is a 48mm

Hi motorat,
Thanks, Will call them...

I thought 19T would not require any modification, right?
Also, as part of this change I am planning to change the chain to Tsubaki 530 Omega O-Ring Chain 102 link; I am hoping this should not require any modification.
Also, the bike has 48mm socket...I plan to give it to the dealer to fit it. Not sure about my ability to do this change!

A question on the OEM chain; the bike came with an O-ring as OEM part says on the chain tolan (or something like that). I have around 8600 miles and the chain seem ok...how long does a normal quality O-ring last? the bike has run 2-up for around 2000 miles total miles - if that reduces the life of the chain (?)

i put a tsubaki o ring on mine at 1500 miles after reading all the stories about the stock chain. mine also had an o ring chain but i feel better with the tsu chain.

hobydad had the 19t on his c5 and said there was no mod needed. when i ordered mine ngear said i might need to shave off a little material on the cover...if the dealer is going to install then you don't have to worry about that.

I just had the right side case off for the 10k service and replaced that gasket, sorry I don't have the number.  I will offer you some advice though.

If you use the gasket get some gasket cement or something to hold to either the case or the cover.  It's a big, floppy gasket and tough to keep in place while you're putting the cover back on.  I used some grease to hold it in place but I'd rather use cement next time.

Further, next time I wouldn't use the gasket.  when I originally ordered the kit the large gasket was back ordered.  I was told by people here and CMW that you can use sealant instead and many of the new bikes do from the factory.  Permatex Black (oil resistant) or Gray (moto case specific) seem to be the two top choices.  Given the hassles I had with the gasket I'd go with goop instead the next time.  Use it sparingly so you don't get huge gobs of it in the case and follow the directions on the tube.

I needed a that gasket once when I changed my sprocket and NFG/CMW sent a tube of Permatex. Take it from there. I don't order gaskets any more.
To tell if you're chain is worn out, grab a link that's on the rear sprocket and pull up on it. If it comes up a half tooth, it's worn out. If you have done a few adjustments, it's worn out. If it needs an adjustment every two or three hundred miles, it's shot. Those OEM chains don't last long. Because it's an Oring chain does not guarantee quality. Remember, RE get their chains from the lowest bidder, as do all motorcycle manufacturers. Most OEM chains are not very good.

When I had the right side off the gasket tore in two spots but I reused it anyway.  I used grease to hold it in place.  It didn't leak.

If you use gasket sealer - be careful - some of the holes need to be left open for oil circulation.

I used a new gasket and grease to hold the gasket in place when I replaced my side cover.  Its not a hard job.  Had to wait 6 weeks for the gasket.
