I voted.
I'm not saying who I voted for, but I will say that it wasn't either of the two major parties.

I rarely vote for Rep or Dem presidential candidates.  Both have ideals I like and ideals I really hate.  People say I'm throwing my vote away, but I say unless you vote for someone you actually believe in, rather than picking either side of a coin, then you are the one throwing your vote away.

yep, a two party political system is definitely not a true democracy

America was never intended to be a true democracy.

It is a democratic republic, not that this has anything to do with how many parties are running for elected offices.

Over the years, we've had several elections where third (or fourth?) parties not only ran but won.

Never knew that. All we hear about down in Australia are the Democrats and  Republicans.

We have two parties as well but they are both really variants of your democrats, one slightly more right wing than the other.

Who is to say that the third party will not be corrupted in short order? But, we do have a third party, the extreme right wing of the (R) party. It has prevented any form of compromise, any progress, movement forward, and has accomplished a stalemate. Be careful what you ask for....

I am sort of independent...but I lived in India for most of my life. They have the kind of democracy that we are talking about , but on steroids. Multiple parties, nobody ever gets a majority, and nothing gets done.  Thats one of the big reasons Indias growth rate has declined.
There are always two sides to an argument...I am giving the other side ..

I was just looking thru the voter information for the Arizona/Federal election we just had.

The candidates were from the Republican party, the Democrat party, the Libertarian party, the Green party and the Independent party.

I don't know about the other States, but Arizona's elections aren't just two party affairs.
