Well, the stripped gearbox oil fill bolt that I thought I'd fixed (
http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/forum/index.php/topic,14988.msg164540.html), fell out on a 30-mile round trip ride to the BBQ truck. Apparently 50mph created too much pressure. Needless to say, all the oil was gone by the time I noticed. Not good.
Since the truck is in the middle of nowhere, I had no choice but to ride it back to work. The bike didn't ride any differently, but there was a hot smell coming out of the transmission when I got back. Really hope it didn't do any lasting damage.
Calling CMW to buy a new transmission cover/bolt.
Lessons learned -- (1) The Permatex thread repair kit doesn't work well (I followed the directions to a "T"); (2) Cheap/quick fixes should not be relied upon permanently. Fix it properly immediately.
