I love my C5, but there are a few minor things that bug me... for instance, is anyone else not impressed with the plastic cap over the swing arm nut?  Maybe I'm just being picky!

It looks to be part #591073.  Has anyone found a 3rd party replacement?

My LH one keeps working loose.

I would not be surprised to pull into a servo one day and find it totally gone.

I also dislike this plastic chrome cap, it looks really cheap. I am considering a black rubber plug or something a bit better engineered.
Local dealer told me to keep an eye out as they tend to dislodge over time.

Mine looks pretty much like chrome, but it was a shock to find out how easily it came loose, & that it was just cheezy plastic. I put a few daubs of clear silicone sealant on it, so I won't loose them. They should stay put until I can find something better at a good hardware store. Any push-in plug could vibrate loose on a big single. Silicone sealant is just the thing for gluing something you want to remove later.  Cheers, Craig McClure

I never liked them either, gawdy little things, but was too lazy to do anything about it.  I lost one the other day so I had to.  I got some of these at my local Lowe's in the hardware aisle:
http://www.lowes.com/pd_139405-37672-881267_4294711047__?productId=3013218&Ns=p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNs%3Dp_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&facetInfo=

I don't remember what size I got, I just matched up the the plastic cap.  I don't know how they'll stand up over time but they're cheap and easy to replace and look way better I think.

I never did like them, so I took one to work, and had the machinist make me 2 new ones in stainless steel. They look much better.

One of mine fell off months ago, after reading this, planning to make a trip to Lowe's.

I replaced mine with rearset mounts. But, as I recall, one of them was missing anyway.

I e-mailed my local dealer in Richmond VA (Velocity).  Maybe they will have some ideas.

I'm going to take a look at Lowes, too.  That's pretty darn creative, Scott.

The RE dealer in Richmond works with a custom fab shop.  They said it would probably be cost prohibitive :( .

I don't know what critical mass we would need to reach to make this  feasible.   How many people would be potentially interested in a group buy?

I took Scott's advice, went to Lowe's and bought one.

1 1/4" is what you will need, cost is $1.04 plus tax.

Works for me.
