A better spark is always welcome and will encourage a better combustion of the fuel air mix improving engine performance. Only if the spark is badly out of timing will it do any damage. The coil itself can not do this.

But as scotty said 'what are you expecting;-- from a low HP antiquated engine.

Further if you are an electronic ignition system the 'black box' is designed to run the standard coil, and I would continue to use it.

If its Points then you can just about run what you want within the voltage.

Actually there is a difference in coils. The primary resistance.  It's 3 ohms on a Bullet. too low resistance, will draw too much current, resulting in fast point wear, too high, and the spark will be weak.
Coils use a ratio of primary to secondary windings, that determine the output voltage.
A higher voltage to the plug will smooth out the idle, but at the expense of point wear. The Bosch blue, is in the catalog, It's been around since the sixty's, and has been the standard in step up items.

Dogbone,

Would that apply or work with an AVL?
