I just bought a sidestand off of a 1976 kawasaki H1. It looks like it can be adapted to fit my G5 deluxe pretty well, & shouldn't have any problem improving on the POS too-short stock stand. I'll put it on during the winter, & enclose a photo. Regards, Craig

Some time back, I added a piece of square aluminum tubing to the underside of my bikes kick stand.
It worked out just about right, giving the bike a moderate lean when the stand is down.
Here's a link to my earlier comments and a picture

I have painted the tubing black so it doesn't look like a afterthought.

I have an ugly pipe fitting on mine. It's gross, but effective!

I don't know if the bikes imported and sold in Philippines are very different, but my side stand is the perfect height. The bike just leans slightly when on the stand. Any higher, and it would be unstable.

I think the issue is that the c5 and g5 have the same sidestand so it's fine on the c5 but with the bigger wheels the g5 leans too much. I don't mind- I use the center stand on flat surfaces. The short sidestand let's you park on steep hills with the sidestand on the uphill side :)

Remember all the side stand modification discussions and ideas?  Here's an update, especially for you guys who haven't seen a newer RE recently.

I had mine at a dealer for help with few things, and one of the comments the mechanic made on the work order was something like, "side stand intentionally bent, bike leans too far".

"Well, duh", I thought, they come that way!  But then I wondered... and I took a closer look at the new showroom models:

That mechanic must be the new guy, and not remember the way it used to be...  ;)

HERE IS HOW IT TURNED OUT. I'm happy with it, perfect angle for G5 & period appearance.

Above, I mentioned I had added a length of square aluminum tubing to the bottom of my sidestand.
Being thin walled, weak aluminum tubing, after a few months it decided to collapse so I went to my local scrap metal place and bought a length of 1 X 1 square steel tubing.
After cutting of a 2 1/2" long piece I drilled some holes thru it to line up with the holes I had made for the aluminum tubing.
After bolting it in place it has worked great for over 1 1/2 years now.

By the way, I would have taken some strong verbal exception to a mechanic that writes, "side stand intentionally bent, bike leans too far".
To me, that reads like he's saying,
"The owner is really dumb.  He bent his side stand so the bike is damn near ready to fall on its side every time the stand is used.  Obviously the warranty shouldn't cover such stupidity." :(

Now that you put it that way, I see what you're saying, but honestly that never dawned on me.  I'm sure the guy was told to give the bike the once-over, and he noted everything he saw.  He also noted that the rear tire is very near needing replacement - Yeah, I know, but I appreciate the warning.

Every person I've interacted with at that place has been nothing but friendly and helpful, going out of their way to help me sort out my concerns.

Anyway, I had to pick up the bike on the weekend, when the guys who looked at my bike were gone, so I have a number of questions and things to talk about with the service manager; one of them will be a mention that the stand came that way, and that the new ones are different...

Just call me a old fuddy duddy who's getting grumpy in my old age.

Saying, "Side stand bent.  Bike leans too far." is a description of the condition.  :)

Adding the words "intentionally bent" is the opinion of the mechanic and lays blame on someone other than the factory.  >:(

The sidestand on my 2013 B5 is perfect. At least it is now that I removed the "safety switch"
