It's  a self regulating system.  Vehicles that can keep oil clean usually aren't burning or leaking oil

Most engines will show more oil after they sit overnight. All the oil has drained back into the oil pan. I check my truck after it has set overnight. If I do the Enfield that way, it will generally show being too full.
The 5 minute wait after you shut it down should be showing the level that it runs at. Although I have looked at mine while it's running and it's usually at that same level.
