I'm converting my RE to a diesel, and I want to replace the diesel's extremely ugly air filter with something a little classier.

It's relatively easy to just add on a K&N pancake or cone filter. But i'm a little concerned about conditions (rain mostly) and am wondering if there are any aftermarket air filters out there that come in a housing to protect from the rain, that people have used on their RE's...?

I suppose I could set up something using the original RE air filter box, but that wasn't the best looking part of the bike, either :)

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Ya'know, sometimes big and ugly can be beautiful.

how bout some kind of snorkel tube using the right radiator hose with a
K&N at the end...   might be kind of an industrial look...

You could do something like this (done on a ural) to protect the K&N filters.
