guess what i got today.

straight out to the bike and into it

twenty minutes later and there on the bike. pretty easy fit except for the fit of the bolt into the top shock tower.
just did what someone else mentioned and placed the jack under the swing arm. gave it a couple of pumps - and the jack too  ;D and the holes lined up easily.
bolt through and all tightened up. unfortunately it's start to rain so a test ride is on the cards for tomorrow

I've never ordered aftermarket shocks for a bike, how do you know what spring rate to order?  What was it you didn't like about the factory shocks and how do you expect the handling to change?

Looks good. Are you going to re-fit the chrome caps? Those shocks are next on my list of "I gotta have ém"items!!

If you order from Dave Quinn, He'll ask you what style shock style you want, your weight and whether or not you do two up.
He will then put the springs on for you. He is very good at getting it right the first time. This why they take phone orders only.

What I didn't like about the stock shocks was their harshness. They have too much compression damping and just don't move when you hit something. I don't know that they changed the handling , per se, that much, but they sure did change the comfort level. I'm sure they offer a lot better traction when you're going through bumpy corners, though. Not going around racetracks, so a direct comparison is kinda tough. But my butt and back tell me they work a lot better. You can actually feel these working.

first impressions after a 50 kl ride. the bike appears to be more sure footed if you know what i mean........ like that's how it should have been made.
mine has the lower 16kg springs. i set it to middle compression.
out on the road the c5 appears very stable, but slightly on the firm side.
pulled over and out with the shock spanner and dropped it to its softest setting.
back on the bike and an immediate fix-nice softer ride.
on the way back home there is a section with 30 to 50 small potholes about 2 to 3 inches deep in a 100 metre stretch. ......i always avoid this section!
so i thought i will see if these hagons are any good or not.
sat the bike on 80 kph and took the lot. big smile on my face here :D they work and they really work well.
i could feel the shocks moving behind me - the ride was good if not uneventful. no whack in the back or bone crushing jarring.
conclusion. i went over those bumps as if they were a non event.
verdict. i purchased them for a better quality ride. i got what i paid for and they delivered the goods. if i had ordered higher up the spring scale they would have been to firm for me. 16kg and softest setting...............according to Goldilocks............. just right.
as for handling I'm really not into that so others can advise. i have the Mazda mx5 and a big turbo to play there.

+1.

16kg, softest setting is perfect on my C5 as well. 16 at a firmer setting might be a a better option for the folks using 18-20kg......that can't be too good for your backs or comfortable on longer trips. I almost ripped my seats apart to put in softer cushioning when I had 18kg shocks but quickly realized that the seats had been tolerable with RE shocks and it was not the seat but the 18 kg shocks that was less than ideal.

I have the 18kgs on their softest setting and they are perfect for my 185-190lb butt. If I weighed 10 pounds less I might want the 16s.

I'm liking the 16kgs on the middle setting. I went back & forth between lowest and middle a few times, but I find the lower setting just a bit on the squishy side. I'm about 168 lbs, add a few for riding gear.
BIG improvement to the Bullet ride.

We must've put a nice little peak on Hagon's sales chart this month.. :)
