It was intermittent, until the bike quit because there was no charge left in it. I don't recall the mechanic ever telling me what it was. But I think the main bearing let go. That was a LONG time ago.

Nah, it went away on it's own after a while. Still happens every once in a while but it's very subtle.  I'm guessing warped or glazed clutch plates that fixed itself.  I figure if I let it be till it breaks then it's easier to see what's the problem.

Lol... That's the easiest way to diagnose a fault. If I can't see that its broken... It isn't. Drive on. Mine hadn't made any noises that I haven't been able to ignore in a while
