We've removed more power commanders, tech-lusion boxes, fuel nannies, than we've sold for the beemers.
They can help increase power, but mainly at a large drop in MPG. In severe, cases, the top ends have to be removed and de-carboned. In real bad cases. A chunk of carbon breaks off and jams a valve open resulting in our service manager making an extra payment on his boat.
Current bikes:
'71 BMW R75/5 racer
'73 Kaw Z1 racer
'77 Tri 750 Bonneville
'99 BMW R1100RT

Thanks for that!! It does give me some food for thought...
Perhaps I'll just stick with the EFI exhaust and the K&N air filter...

I´m looking forward to the release of RE´s Continental GT. Of course it will be nothing more (or less) than an upgraded Bullet and we´ll probably see some more horsepowers. It´ll be very interesting how the Indians are going to do it. The alterations may give hints to the weak points and capabilities, how RE is seeing it. And maybe they´ll be retrofittable to the older Bullets.
Best regards

The importers of the RE Cafe Racer claim a top speed of about 96 mph. Won't quite do the ton.

Bare,
Do you have a source for this info, in a link or something?
And when you say "importers", who do you mean? Which country?

CMW, the US importer, talking to the right people.
I don't know, this is a case that maybe I shouldn't reveal my source, but he is reliable and in a position to know.

That would mean the Conti´s power output will be ca. 35-37 HP.
And that would mean RE will claim 40  ;D

It will be interesting to see what it actually does.

The concept Cafe looks lighter than any of the current line of bikes. If it were to make 37 hp at the rear wheel with its 'racy' rider position it would go past the ton. But, lets see......

any bike will do the ton.......

if you drop it high from enough...
this remind me of a discussion that was on the new bonneville forum,
only more civil here. it got pretty heated between those that like the bike the way it was and those that wanted to push the envelope.
i like that there people like ace and hitch that play around with the bike because it will spark more intrest in the bike and some of the improvements might get back to india and get incorporated in the bike. a little power would be nice only to get up to freeway speeds faster but for my needs it is not necessary.

The Fireball will run right along with the Goldstar DBD34.
They have a slight edge in redline rpm because they have a 2mm shorter stroke, so they can do 7000rpm, and we max out at 6400 rpm.

I'll bet on the street, on a 0-60 stoplight drag, the Fireball would win.

I see there have been no takers as of yet.
No matter where you go, there, you are.

We do have one guy that Chumma knows, who is a big-time Brit bike restorer in NJ, who has a DBD34, and we could video a drag race against Chumma's Fireball.
We haven't been able to get him to do it yet. But, he's ridden Chumma's Fireball, and he thinks the Fireball would beat his DBD34 in a drag.

Maybe one of these days Chumma will get him out there to do the drag on video.
We basically have nothing to lose. If we don't win, there's no shame in getting beat by a DBD34. But the DBD34 guys don't relish the idea of getting beat by an Enfield.

Maybe we can try it with the modded UCE bike when we get done with it.

I doubt that RE claims for 27.5 HP are overstated. They run a bare engine with no attachments on an engine stand and measure the horsepower at the crankshaft. Quite normal practice. It does give a bit of satisfaction, but they know, as do all other vehicle manufacturers, that nowhere near the stated horsepower is getting to the rear wheels. So if they do advertise 37 (or 40) HP, I'm sure that's what they're getting. They don't really have any reason to overstate what's there. Anyone who wants to know what kind of power they're getting is going to take his bike to a shop with a dyno and get the true rwhp anyway. And it won't be anywhere near 37.
