I thought it would be fun to create a map with the locations of RE enthusiasts.

Pin your location on the map, along with your username and any bike details if you like, would be interesting to see where people live and where the highest concentration of Enfields are thumping around.

You will need a Google or gmail account to add your location but these are very quick to set up if you don't already have one.

Then click on the link below to get started:
https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=206740408861669440603.0004c2d1ee8bcc6784de9&msa=0&ll=25.799891,-79.002686&spn=4.944427,10.821533

Directions for once you are signed in to the map:
- Click the Edit Button above.
- Move the map until you find your area.
- Zoom in if necessary using the + and - buttons
- Select the pin icon at the top of the page
- Click your location
- Add your username as the title and what bike/s you have as the description (optional)
- Select the icon you would like to use by clicking the icon on the top right of the popup box
- Click OK and then hit the Done button on the left hand side of the page and you should be good to go!
- If you made a mistake you can click your pin again and edit or select Delete at the bottom of the popup.

If anyone has any issues let me know where you are and any details you want to add and I'll do it for you.

There is a Yahoo RE group that is quite active. Mostly iron barrel guys. Pete Snidal hangs out there. There are several others around, but I don't go there much so don't really know who they are. But they are kind of entrenched in other motorcycle groups within the forum. Too much problem for me to separate them. This one and the Yahoo bunch would seem to be the most knowledgeable in the US. the Brits have one that seems pretty good, but I haven't spent much time there, either.

I wish, as far as I know there are no cows on the island! Probably for the best, Nassau is only 30 miles long and wouldn't want to be running into them while I do my laps!
Talking of lonely, no one even mapped in Florida yet, will have to go all the way up the East coast or over to Texas to find any other RE riders.

fixed my location Im not in a plowed field anymore lol. Although I found my house and these google pictures must be months old. Maybe even a year. Because in the pic my box trailer is in my driveway (also a strange truck that I dont recognize) anyway I moved my box trailer to work a very long time ago.

it. I think it's kind of funny that there are no Indian riders on the map yet. Obviously there a loads of us out there that are just not in to forums. I occasionally see RE's out and about in my neck of the woods and my dealer is less than two miles away from where I live. I asked him why I don't see more RE's  in my area and he said that most are sold to guys far away from his dealership like Akron/Canton, Toledo etc.

I have never gotten the Google logon to work. I've been jacking around with them off and on for three years. Still no luck.
I did see their picture of my house. It had to have been taken in last year. The garage door is open and I can see the Enfield inside it.

I agree that there's no point in making a map if it's not somewhat accurate, but how can you tell?  It makes no sense that someone would take the time to do this and use the wrong location.  Granted, people often don't make sense.

As long as each person has at least pinned the right city that's probably fair enough. Just trying to get an idea of where people are mainly, we don't need to STALK them  ;)

After a brief trip to float on my bike off the coast of Managua Nicaragua I have returned to Southern Ontario. Hope the salt water doesn't hose the bike. Fishing was good.

No; you're still there, in southern Honduras. I wish there was a way to lock this, so whatever northbound-end-of-a-southbound-horse it is that's playing games with peoples' locations would be locked out...

The only ways as far as I know to minimise the chances of idiots people messing it up would be to:
a) make it invite only but then we'd need to know everyone's email address to invite them to edit, which would probably mean a lot of people wouldn't bother.
b) for me to add everyone manually when they send me their location- could end up being a pain in the butt.

I'd not really seen the old forum version map, any way of getting that back Kevin? Then at least only registered members could add their own location and not mess up everyone else's.
