A dealer close to me has a 2011 C5 Chrome with 4131 miles on sale for $5795. The thing that i do not like about it, is the fact that it was used as a demo bike and has racked up quite a few miles. I am sure that the guys testing it out must have really tested its limits and the engine might have not be properly broken in. Am I thinking correctly and should stay away from it? The dealer is 1.5 h away, so the warranty will be practically useless. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Not enough of a discount to turn my head away from a new one.

That's a lot of mile for a demo bike, I'd say that qualifies as a used bike.  I bought a demo C5 with 800 miles.  You do get the advantage that it's already been through it's teething stage and shaken out the small problems.

If that's the total price that's a pretty good break over new.  As long as it comes with the standard 2 year warranty starting when you buy it you should be fine.  If you really want peace of mind just get a new one.

My dealer is an hour and a half away. I make the trip every couple of weeks just to take a ride!
As I see it, that isn't much of a discount for a 2011 over a new one. You should be able to get it for that price with no miles on it. My dealer sold a 2011 with 4000 miles on it for $5,000. It was a nice bike.

For about $900 more, I got the 2012 C5 Special (black/chrome), brand new. The Special incorporates the 19" front wheel, and revised front fork, which were important to me. I am also a bit gun shy when it comes to buying a demo .. it would have to be a better deal than that for me to even consider it. That's just my opinion and comfort zone, some folk are fine with demos and have had excellent luck with them.
