The oil looked cooked (to me) after the first 280 miles, so I changed it and sent a sample for testing.

1996 Trophy 1200
2009 Hyosung GV250
2011 RE B5

I didn't have much metal in mine after the first change (300 miles). It was just a weird black color, which appears to be normal. I was expecting to find shavings galore, but only had a minimal amount around the plug.

Interesting report.

I suspect the high silver value is due to the rolling element bearings separators being silver plated.
This is often done to reduce friction.

The biggest benefit is to keep things from seizing on the spot should a catastrophic oil loss occur.
