  One way of stopping it would be to put any new supposid members on a delay of a few days.  one person looking them over. any that aRE related posted. those not Round filed and addresses banned.   i'm still tracking three that i guesstimate as spammers.we'll see. guessed right on last 4

 Spammers know their account is  as good as"burned" before the first post.
They will just wait the delay time and launch the attack anyway and besides the stupid non entertaining spam is deleted the same day or two as it is now.

 It would also be received as unfriendly by new member especially those needing help with a pressing problem.

You know i am looking for investors in my new idea.
So heres the pitch.
SPAM was invented as the byproduct of another invention.
A man, name slips the mind, invented a machine to seperate the meat from pork shoulder(which at the time was usually discarded due to the difficulty in getting the meat off the shoulder).
So, All we need to do is create a machine that takes an often discarded resourse and turn it into profit!
My idea is to create a machine that takes the cast off carcasses from fish processing and canning, then seperates the usable stuff from the bones and what not, leaving a gelatinous mass that we will package in a blue can with yellow letters!
And what are we going to call this wonder of modern tech?

I don't know ow many of you noticed this, but the membership for the forum jumped from about 4700 last month to 10,700 this month. Some Asian outfit just bombarded us with Members. You can go through the membership list and pretty much see who the 6000 extras are. They need to get one of those boxes that have the goofy letters where you have to type in the letters in that a lot of outfits are using nowadays. If the letters don't match, the sign up data won't go through. No one is going to do 6000 members with that requirement.

Another interesting factoid about SPAM is that the name actually means something. It stands for Shoulder Pork and Ham. In keeping with that, I am proud to announce two new offerings from the folks(me) that brought you SWAM!

This is all very worrisome to me. To keep from having to log in I just check the stay logged in all the time...   I know that these spammers cannot affect me thru the
forum, yet.....    maybe an unknown botnik??  I'll be logging off and spending less time around here till we know for sure....   6,000 bots could logon at the same time
and crash the server, then what?
