 Looks like Successful Carb Settings thread started by Rick Sperko has slipped into the recycle bin.

Anyone have a copy of the info from the thread ?

  • 2003 ES 500... 38,416 miles, I'm done

I do have some of that saved...
   pasted in below- Mike

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My set up on the old was a 27.5 pilot and 130 main. I have a K&N air filter with the
original bazooka drilled straight thru  9/16's.  The elevation is 660 here in the prairie...
my mileage was 60+ mpg...
I started the flat side with the 140 main and and 38 slow jet.
 (Mine came with  38 and 25 slow jets.)
LOVED the torque but was very rich and mileage down to 40...
I've worked my way down to the 25 slow and a 125 main with
the J-clip 1 ring above center...  I think I'm very close with the mileage
in the mid 50's...   it's hard to get a lot of miles in around here this time
of year with 20 to 30 mph winds and all the rain.
I had to buy 2- -  31mm  M8 x 1.25 studs and nuts for the install. You will like
the fact that it is more compact so the sharp angle of the cable is reduced at
the top...   it idles like a hondoodle; the choke is very awkward...   the cable is just
a fraction long. With the adjuster all the way up at the top of the carb there
 still might be 1/8th" slop...
       That's bout all I got  - Mike
1)   Needle on the 2nd lowest setting
2) 142 main jet
3) 19 pilot jet
I completely removed the awful dead spot and my plug is now a nice tan color. The only other modifications I have made to the engine, besides the new 30mm carb, are:
1) K&N cone filter
2) PAV removed
3) Baffle removed from stock header pipe
2)   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CMW has said it should be ready to go out of the box given my set up of 50's exhaust (I'm close to sea level here in NJ) with a 19 pilot and 140 main.
Micarb setup only….
Mine has freeflow exhaust, K&N filterin the modified stock air box.  Mikarb  w/ 125 /25 and the richer slide. running at sea level 40-80 degrees temp. The 80  degrees here a rarity.  A fairly standard setup.
35 pilot 135 main and 4th notch on needle. Still needs a bit of tweaking but is close.
