What is the thread size of the holes in the handlebars?

It's 10mm but I don't remember the pitch, what are you trying to do?  Most any Suzuki or Kawasaki mirror will fit.

Trying to find something besides the ridiculous-looking OEM mirrors where I can see something besides my arms!

Starting to think that Terry Crawford was right when he said that those would be the only ones that would work for me.  :(

You think these OEM Bullet ones are bad? Geez, they were a revelation compared with most jap sports bikes that are put there only so you can see how good YOU look as rear vision is almost impossible. It is either a question of shifting your body to one side or lifting your elbow in a ridiculous fashion to see behind. I have 100mm (4") extenders on either side of my Honda and that helps a lot now!!!!!
If it ain't broke-------------------------- fix it 'till it is!

As long as you aren't doing any lane splitting the bar end mirrors would probably improve the view.

The threads are 10MM with a 1.25 pitch. The only hang up is the right side. The threads are reversed there. You must use a Yamaha mirror or an adaptor for Yamaha to convert to a standard rotation (righty tighty, lefty loosey).

Not so on my '04 Sixty-5.  Both are righty tighty, can't speak to any other bike though.

Vince,
I owe you an apology.  I was poking around in a box of parts today and came across the stock mirrors for my Sixty-5 and you are absolutely correct about the reversed threads.  Hope I didn't cause anyone to run out a buy the wrong mirror.

The small oval mirrors available from cmw work well if you bend them down more on the original bend. Mine now are about 2 inches over my hand and work great. See them in the photo gallery members rides 05 E

Just now went out to the shop and checked my  '06.  The right side mirror is indeed left hand thread.  I'm doing my best not to think about what fantastic happenstance induced someone to do that.  But it's not working...I'm getting dizzy anyway.  Looks like the adaptor for the right side, to enable mounting a 3" mirror with 5/16-20 thread, will have to have to be left-hand threaded on a lathe.

I recently switched from the OEM to the bar end mirrors and while they are definitely 100% loking than the stock units they are 75% useless. That said, I like the way they look so much I am having a hard time convincing myself to go back to the stock units,

I ordered a pair of little 3 inch dia. mirrors for my Bullet.  They have 5/16-18 threads on the ends of the shafts.  The adaptors were made today by drilling a couple of 7/16 bolts that have 20 threads per inch [std. fine pitch] with an "F" drill and tapping them for the 5/16-18 mirrors.  The 10mm/1.25mm pitch holes in the handelbars, where the original mirrors bolted on, will be drilled out to 25/64 inch and threaded with a 7/16-20 tap.  The adaptors will be Loc-Tited in and the 5/16-18 shafts installed in the adaptors.  Have not received the mirrors yet so,for now, all I did was make the adaptors.  I'll post a picture when it is complete...if it turns out O.K.  Otherwise I won't let anybody see it.
