The ole bullet is running again, It was a loooong friggin winter. dawned the leather jacket & chaps & rode a full tank out, Ya Hoo  !
The 8.5:1 535 piston is giving a large increase in torque, hills in N E Ohio that used to require a shift, now are pulled at half throttle in top gear. I'm still using the Micarb, but when the rings are broken in I will install a 1 1/8th Amal monoblock.

How is the kickover with the 8.5? Do you run regular gas or have you stepped up to mid-grade or premium?

The "full tank of gas was donated by the lawntractor , so it was 6 month old regular. I timed it by ear, all's well.
I am planning a dual plug conversion, so I have been starting the critter w/out the comp release. It's not bad at all. Had a BSA 441 w/ 11:1 cr, that was a bit more of a challenge !

My Dad says the same thing. He had a Goldstar in early '60's with 11:1 comp on a B33 (I think) hard tail frame. He says it was a bitch to kick over but it was wicked fast.

I'd probably give up a gonad to have a Goldstar, but my back is way too old for a rigid frame. My BSA was an ice racer from Canada, had ice picks in the tires !! I put regular knobby's on and ran flat track, youth+flattrack= no back (or brains)
