I saw the above bike for sale (no engine/trans) and was wondering if I am correct in assuming that my 2002 535 Fireball would bolt right in? (I am going to rebuild my bike as a 350 and sell it in the next month or so...)

An Indian made Bullet engine and tranny should bolt right into that English made Indian frame...maybe some minor alterations in fitment... ;)

The frame is the later type and there will be different motor mounts.
It can go in, but there will probably be some fiddles.
Parts for it will be harder to find.

Thanks, I'll see if I can get it the owner is willing to hold on to it if I buy it until I get back to the states in June. I will be living europe starting in August so figure I should be able  to go to the UK for parts....

Is it the rolling chassis that's on eBay right now? I don't think that's a Trailblazer...the yoke is wrong...I think it's an Apache...sure wish he'd sell me that speedo for my Chief... ;)

BH63, it is almost certainly a Trailblazer as claimed in the ad. It has the correct top yoke, a type only used on the Woodsman and the Trailblazer. It is unlikely to be a Woodsman, because they did not have the longer swingarm seen here. The Apache had a twin clock top yoke, and also only the short swingarm. If you need a speedo for your Chief, Hitchcock's have one for sale, look in the used parts section on their website.

RGT, your 2002 will bolt straight in. The only engine mount difference on the later frame is the absence of the saddle tube and triangular plates bolted to the top of the gearbox.  This arrangement still works OK, but you may like to add the stiffening fixing used later on the Interceptor. This is a simple mod, consisting of a cast alloy bracket bolted to the back of the gearbox (longer studs required) and to the swingarm mounting plates.

Thanks for the excellent information...I stand corrected...I'll check with Hitchcock's,concerning that speedo...that chassis is  a great deal for someone,I'm surprised that he's not parting it out, like so many others on eBay recently...hope RGT can get it...

Thanks, Yes the frame on ebay now. I will keep that trans mount in mind if I buy it. I am obviously not going for a restoration but more of a period correct build, I do like the Trailblazer front fender though and wish it had it.....looking at all the various models from those years I see lots of elements I like....

went for $580, which was 100 more than I wanted to pay since I would have had to ship it europe, I am also thinking grider or springer front end and some of that frames value was its front end....

$580 was still a good price...did YOU get it?...or...was the extra $100 the straw that broke the camels back?

No, I actually went to bed as the auction ended at 3am local time, but I had in my mind since I have to figure in shipping that it was not worth over $500 to me, I do think that is a good price for buyer and seller. Hopefully someone will bring it back to a roadable bike.
