While going through the bolt tightening routine on my 2011 B5, I looked under the tank and found this broken brace.  It goes from the engine to the frame, just to the left of the throttle body.  Has anyone else noticed this?  I am getting with my dealer tomorrow and am sure I can cut a piece as a temp repair, but this kind of got my attention.

Not me, but I'll certainly be keeping an eye on it from now on.

My 2011 G5's brace is fine after 3700 miles.

I have read about these breaking so I give it a look every once in a while.

IMO, this is one of the under-designed parts that RE ought to do something about.
Either a material change or an increase in the tubes wall thickness would do the trick. (It starts out as a tube as it enters the die(s).  The die flattens both ends, trims the overall length and pierces the holes.  I'm sure it is made out of a low carbon low strength steel.)

If a replacement isn't available a piece of 1/8" thick X 3/4" wide low carbon steel could be made to replace it.  The 1/8" (3.18 mm) thick steel would be stronger than the existing design.

this is pretty common, if this part is defective from the start.
however as it is cheap, it's easy to replace. However considering
it's importance, Royal Enfield should improve it's tensile strength.

Granted it could just be of poor quality or under engineered , I would check all your motor mounts for proper tightening. There had to be alot of vibration to snap that like that. Thanks for sharing that. I'll be sure to keep an eyeball on mine.

Got with Richard at Centaur Cycles today and a new brace is on the way.  As suggested by Arizoni and Bradey, this is a common break.  Richard said when it goes you really feel the vibration.  Thinking back I believe the foot massage did get a bit more intense.  The bottom line is make sure all your nuts and bolts are tight.

It's possible that it has been broken for a long time and all of the excessive vibration you've been chalking up to it being a big 500 single was caused by the bracket.

By the way, new owners are always told to be sure and check ALL of the nuts and bolts often to make sure they aren't coming loose.

The bolts for this brace should be included in their inspection.

If one (or both) of the bolts/nuts on this bracket come loose the vibration form the engine will beat the living hell out of the bracket and cause it to break.

Dang, I'm going to go check that right now. I thought I had an acceptable amount of vibration with hard mounting the seat.

Got my new brace yesterday.  Someone has been paying attention to the problem and the part has been redesigned.  It is a solid bar 5mm thick with a couple of slight bends to fit around the mounting point on the engine.  Compared to the old part this is a massive piece of steel.  Will keep it as a spare while we see how the one I made (Arizoni specs) does.

Sounds like their new design is about 160 percent thicker than what I suggested.  If that doesn't solve the problem nothing will.
