Random Question.

Online sources seem contradictory.

Did Royal Enfield at any time ever make a plunger rear end motorcycle of any capacity or type ? Yes or No ?

I have never seen a pricture of one.    From looking the model K,G,J all were a hardtail and the first swingarm bikes started showing up in after so I think they skipped the plunger.

Actually the little 148cc Ensign 2-stroke had a swing arm. It did have a weird spring where a spring just bisected tabs on the swing arm and worked it up and down, there was no shock.
There was never a plunger setup.

The photos in "Royal Enfield-By Miles The Best" show these Ensign's being produced from 1953 thru 1959 which is long after the old plunger type rear suspension had disappeared from the drafting boards.

It looks like RE just used the cheapest thing they could think of to give the Ensign some sort of rear suspension without going to real rear shock's.

I had a 1958 indian lance (royal enfield) that had a crome cover over the rear spring set up. I guess a 14 year old dont pay atteniton to details.
