Does anyone know the difference? Also, has anyone dealt with National Powersports

Purchased my 2011 C5 from National Power Sports out of NH.

Great to work with, excellent customer support and willingness to make you feel that you are a valued customer.

Shipped the bike from NH to Miami Fl, crated and ready to go.

Very satisfied.

Don't know about the California thing.  Can't be good though.

Different gas cap (screw top instead of locked) and tank with different venting that allows a charcoal canister to capture evaporating vapors from the tank.  The vapors are then sucked out of the canister at start up so the intake manifold probably has a tap on it to provide vacuum.

The rest of the 49 state bikes just vent their escaping fuel tank vapors to the atmosphere.

I live in Arizona so I don't have to deal with the California stuff but I was impatiant to get my bike so, when I bought my 2011 G5 I got the California model (a week less shipping time).

Before I did this I asked if the computer or anything else was different and my dealer called the main office and asked.
Basically, except for the things Scotty mentioned the Calif. model is the same as all of the other 49 state RE's.

When I installed my crash bar I had to move the canister from the bottom of the front down tube so I installed it on the crash bar.

Let's not forget the important part: the CA bikes cost more  ;)

Oddly the extra cost of the California bike was the same as the price difference for shipping a bike out here from the upper Mid-West so it all came out the same in the end.
