As my time draws nearer to my journey through India I am getting more and more excited. The bike is coming along nicely, mapping the ride is going well and it looks like it will be a great ride.

I would like to hear.......

What is the longest ride you have undertaken on your Royal Enfield?
What was the biggest challenge you had?
Where do you want to ride next?

Cheers Kenneth.

Make sure your route plan keeps you on secure roads with enough traffic to not allow the bandits to do you in.

Or so I remember reading the threads a few years ago (Gordon May?) by a Brit who rode from England to and through India.

The longest ride on my C5 is somewhere less than 200 miles in a day.  I long for good weather again to be able to get out and about.

Best of success to you on your trip.

The longest ride I was able to enjoy on my Bullet was a 700kms trip accross several pass roads in the western Alpes. This bikes is taylormade for mountainroads, it´s hardly surprising the Indians love to rush up and down the Himalaya with it.
The best ride imaginable though is a trip to the Berchtesgadener Land, the area where old Adolph had his Berghof. In terms of landscape his taste was beyond any doubt indeed, though you really couldn´t say that concerning his human kindness.
When I´m travelling through these beautifull twisted tree-lined avenues I´m permanetly euphoric, and an indispensable part of that experience is the bike. I guess you need a long-stroke single to get the experience of getting seperated from our daily life´s rush and pugnancy. Regards

I've done several 200-250 mile rides through the LA area mountains on the Bullet. Roads to 8000 feet, fantastic scenery, beautiful sinewy curves in and out of the sunlight. Miles and miles of great riding. You can never get tired of them. I've hit ice, been blown all over the road, rained on, and just plain cold. And that is just this year on the Bullet! But I keep going back and the Enfield has made the rides even better. I've been riding these roads for over 20 years on a variety of sport bikes and they always beckon me back for more. The Bullet stays slow enough in the fast parts that I can actually enjoy the scenery now. I used to blow through blow it at mach speeds and tunnel vision just keeping an eye on the course and lookig for cops. All the rides were wonderful, but the change in the paradigm with the Bullet has made them even more spectacular.

Damn you two make it sound good!

In my defence I've only had the bike a year and by the time the winter cleared I broke my arm and couldn't ride much. I'm not whining just explaining.  8)

You have to relocate your muscle rebuilding into the saddle, using clutch/throttle. Don´t lubricate! The more power you need to twist, the better your arm will be trained. And the vibes will stimulise bone growth. Actually riding a Bullet is healthy  ;)

I was having too much fun to clock the exact mileage, but it was around 350 miles.
Burke's Garden in Virginia is a wonderful place to ride.

Longest so far was about 300 miles in US imperial talk (riding a 2011 UCE B5).

Basically a run up through some of the more popular eastern Aussie bike roads Sydney-Putty Road-Singleton-Mudgee-Stroud-Gloucestor-Buckets Way-Armidale.

Bike ran fine, handled the mountains easily and was good for sustained 70 mph on the inland straight sections.
