Got the swing arm off, sand blasted and its ready for its first coat of primer. Getting the frame ready for sand blasting and ran into an issue. There are two "wings" welded to the main front frame downtube. They dont appear to be attached to any of the functional bits..but before I plasma them off..I thought Id ask to see if they were tank attachments or something important.

Thanks!  If they are not important..Ill wack em off with the plasma cutter, and grind the frame smooth where they were.

It looks like someone stuck them on as an afterthought. They certainly don't look original. Probably had a different tank mounted to it.

i know you've torched it off already, but it might have been a side car mount? Butcher job?

I would suspect coil mounts.

nah .. that doesn't explain why they are both sides of the frame ... unless they fitted matching left and right sidecars  :-\

My vote is mounts for home made engine bars.

Based on the quality of the welds I'm guessing it was a High School metal shop project where everyone got to have a stab at it.  :D ;D
