I like the "Titanic was an insurance job" one. I can't remember the details but there was a sister ship in need of a refit that put it beyond economical repair, so that one was sunk by the ice berg, netting a big insurance pay out. They tidied up by putting the clunker's name plates on the brand new Titanic when nobody was watching.

Once long ago a hippy quit his job and bummed  around laying hands on fallen  women and  such and got another dozen to drop  their lives and  bum  around  with  him. He raised  a little hell until he was  cornered on  his belief that he conceived himself on his own mama or  some  such. Its NASA taking over the world. The idea was based on a proposed Star trek movie script that was later scrapped. Only difference was in the Star Trek script it was aliens taking over not NASA.
