Saturday after work I installed a new clutch cable on the Road King and it has been a lovely improvement over the failing lined clutch cable that was on there.  Yesterday, road to my best friend's annual bbq and got absolutely soaked on the way there.  Changed into some sweat pants and threw my clothes and jacket in the drier and had a lovely time with the wife and friends.  Today I wiped her down and got the last 3 rainy rides of grime off and road her around running errands all day.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out I was able to fit a roll of 2'x25' chicken wire fence in my saddle bag to finish off the bunny fence around the garden the wife and I planted yesterday.  And also went clothes shopping today and was able to fit 3 pairs of jeans, a pack of underwear and socks and a new pair of shoes in one saddle bag!  Turned out to be a wonderful weekend!

Grafted this USD front end onto the plastic maggot. It's gonna be good to have real working brakes....

I installed a completely new front wheel with new rotors and bearings on my patinated Suzuki SV. What makes this noteworthy?
My tire installer scratched the original wheel and insisted on replacing the entire wheel with new parts!  :)

I agree.  That is a shop that truly cares about their reputation.  Good on them.

What did I do today?  I found the rev limiter in 3rd on the final stretch to work, running a couple of minutes behind.  Which was exactly 80mph.  I made sure to look.  Haha!  I'm actually trying to get my friends together to go out to the local drag strip (Bandimere) for a Wednesday Test And Tune.  $35 and make as many passes as you can before they close.  I think it would be fun!

Hey guys,  question? -- Have any of you ever owned or worked on a vs 800 Suzuki Intruder.  I just picked one up that has been sitting for some years.. Cleaning the two carbs was a bit of a chore about five hours of work.  Still cleaning the rusty gas tank.  Have to replace both the clutch and the brake master cylinders. I feel like I am working on a ticking time bomb.  Haven't had it running as yet but it has spark, compression and a good battery and elect. starter.  Any enlightenment would be appreciated.  Fragile or bulletproof ?  Thanks--Scotty

They are descent enough bikes if maintenance is kept up.  Kind of an expensive nightmare to revive.  5 hours sounds about right for rebuilding the carbs.  Plan on another 2 or 3 to try and get them dialed in and synched.  FWIW I've had 4 in the shop in the last month.  I'm personally not a big fan of Suzuki bikes.  I have had good luck with Yamahas tho.

Scottie is correct. they are a rebuild and set up nightmare. Yamaha is a better choice.  ERC

Regarding my vs 800 --Thanks for the input guys -- Going on Craigs list right away.  At my age I don't need the aggravation.  As for the Yamaha's which are the best for low riding and long life.  V Stars? 650's of 1100's? -- Also my beloved BMW K 75 is for sale --Too heavy for me.  Thank's  Scotty

All the V-Stars are fantastic bikes.  Actually just revived a 2003 XVS650 this morning with my co-worker.  Used an All Balls complete carb kit and running like a champ.  Really didn't need anything else either besides a fuel flush and plugs.

I used to have a K75 like that.  Nice bike but I got rid of it because it was too much like a car  ;) .
Today I drilled the sump plugs, radiator cap and drain, oil filler and water pump bolts on my DRZ supermoto for lockwire. A new Kart track has been made available to us but they want bikes race prepped which is fair enough.  Only broke 1 drill bit so I'm pretty happy with that.

Finalized a deal on a 2018 T-100, 14miles, 2-tone Blue/White. I feel I got it for a very fair price (NADA book for my zip code).
Long story short the previous owner (80+yrs old) doesn't even remember buying the thing after a GREAT night at the tables in Vegas, and already has a Can Am Spider. So-o-o his loss, my gain.  8) Now the missus and I can CRUISE the hack to Montana and back to Albuquerque virtually worry free.  ;D

Got the insurance yesterday. Ouch! For three bikes it jumped to $375/yr. It should drop off a bit oonce I sell the C5, though.   I pick up the bike today, get the tub mount ordered from Kevin, and while I'm waiting for the mount I'll give the bike a proper break-in.    My first test ride was a friends late '16 Street Twin.  The throttle response was pretty scary at first. "Speed by Wire"? No throttle cable and ZERO delay in  response! Did a couple more rides and I'm comfortable with it now.  ;D    Read through the Scheduled Maintenance Check Sheet, and am VERY impressed with how low maintenance these are! My bud with the Street Twin told me that since I like to tinker so much maybe this isn't the bike for me.
When I reminded him I have the Electra AVL he responded by nodding wisely.  ;)
