I stared at an 83 Suzuki GS650 gathering dust.  It may be time to take pictures and sell it.  It's a nice bike, but doesn't have the same appeal as an Enfield.  Now that I've ridden a few "thumpers", other bike types don't interest me as much.  It may be a phase.

It's a phase that can last a lifetime!
Thumpers in my life, 250 Matchless, GoldStar, BSA 441, BSA B50MX, Indian Velocette 500, Yamaha SR500, Yamaha TT500, Yamaha Exciter 250, Honda XR100, Honda XR250R, Honda GB500,(Still here), Royal Enfield G5.
When I was racing motocross in the 60s and 70s in Oklahoma, my nickname was Valves, as I also had a couple of Triumph powered racers, too, a Cheney Triumph and  Grumph(Greeves Triumph). My friends there still call me that.

Wow that ride is huge! What is it?

SuzieQ Boulevard....   picked it up last fall for a song. Glad I did at this point cause the distances out here are farther and the inclines are steeper.
This is the only thread that I've said much cause I kinda feel guilty about "moving on" .

You'll be missed!
I rode a Suzi 650 a few years ago. The engine was delightful. Couldn't handle the styling though. I did check out those Ryca Cafe Racers. Kinda interesting, but too much of the cruiser styling sticks out.

Glad to see you are still posting Baird - I think once you are an Enfield person, you always are.  These things make too much of an impact to just fade away.  Stick around - I know I might need some more help at some point!

Thanks. Boggy.

rode over Red Mountain Pass on 550 south; also known as the million Dollar Highway; to Silverton. My wife insisted we get there in time to see the train get in....
what a wonderful ride. At one of the scenic overlooks we stopped at on the return
trip she sez "we could never have done this on the Enfield..."

replaced the sprockets and chain and replaced all brake pads on my vstrom650.
pads had a little life left but since i had the replacements and was already dirty i figured why not.
the chain and sprockets had 28457 miles on them.

Rode across the Sierra through Sonora pass to see Bodie ghost town and Mono lake. The Beemer did great but it's a little sedan-like. It was nice to have the power for loaded two-up climbs but I kept imagining Enfield noise from The engine to entertain myself. Next time I'll take the Enfield
