I thought it might be interesting to let others know what happens on our other rides.

Most know that I bought a new Moto Guzzi Breva 750 this month and really like it.  Well, today it needed a tow to the dealer.  Here's what happened:

About 25 miles from home, heading to Mt. Rainier for a wonderous 200 mile ride, doing about 65mph in gorgeous weather, the Guzzi started to slow down, as if a brake was being applied.

It was.  After a lengthy wait for a tow truck and after a screaming siren Medic truck came to help (someone phoned in that a motorcyclist had crashed!) and a state patrol cruiser stopped by to say hi, the head tech quickly found that the rear brake lever had NO play in it.

So the rear pads were in contact with the rotor.  They heated up and expanded as the brake fluid started to boil.  Good thing it didn't lock up!

It was the shop's goof for not finding it at the 650 mile check, BUT that's a type of thing I should be inspecting before each ride.

Anyway, all is fine, and it won't cost me a dime, except for my time!   :D

Only ONE motorcyclist stopped to offer help.  He was riding a Harley.  Nice guy.

"What did you do on your non Royal Enfield motorcycle today?"

Bought a new starter solenoid and bendix for the Shovel Head.

Ninety-three bucks out the door  ::)  still it's less money than the $1,500 it would cost to put a kicker on it.

No matter where you go, there, you are.

I can see that I've got to go out and get another motorcycle so I can take part in this topic.  ;D

The problem is trying to find something with as much character as the RE.  :-\

rode it, oiled the chain, and put it away.

Willw is that your bike? I do think Kawasaki has really captured the Brit styling well with that bike...I came across this last night from them that I would like to be able to add to the stable also: http://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/mcy/2565866685.html

I'm deliriously delighted to be able to say yes it is my bike. Kawasaki have got it spot on - they even built in a little bit of old style vibration - just enough so you know you're sitting astride an engine. :D
I'm off out on it right now for a blat round the coast - I just went online to check the weather (you have to in UK this year - summer's coming in little bits & pieces between the rain.... :()

Nice Enduro. Low mileage & cheap.

Currently a W650 on Craigs List -

I went on a ride with some of my "Sport Bike" riders on Sunday on my 'ole 360 and stopped for a BIG Washington Breakfast...and kicked ass up in the mountains.

How do you find those? I searched Ebay and found nothing. Right now I'm so broke I can't even pay attention! The W650 and the Honda GB500 have been favorites of mine since they came out, with the Kaw being slightly ahead on my list.

As for my Non-RE bikes, my daughter is riding one of the Suzukis. The Yamaha and the other Suzuki just take up space in my garage. One of these days they will go.

Did the dealer install new brake pads? The disc may have overheated as well. Might want to have that Goose checked.

The W650 is a beauty!  If Kawasaki were to bring the W800 to the US, I think most of us on this forum would consider getting one!

Wished my Honda XR 200 was a Yamaha XT 250 or perhaps a 125.
Don't get me wrong, the XR is a good machine I just miss the XT.
