I thought it might be interesting to let others know what happens on our other rides.
Most know that I bought a new Moto Guzzi Breva 750 this month and really like it. Well, today it needed a tow to the dealer. Here's what happened:
About 25 miles from home, heading to Mt. Rainier for a wonderous 200 mile ride, doing about 65mph in gorgeous weather, the Guzzi started to slow down, as if a brake was being applied.
It was. After a lengthy wait for a tow truck and after a screaming siren Medic truck came to help (someone phoned in that a motorcyclist had crashed!) and a state patrol cruiser stopped by to say hi, the head tech quickly found that the rear brake lever had NO play in it.
So the rear pads were in contact with the rotor. They heated up and expanded as the brake fluid started to boil. Good thing it didn't lock up!
It was the shop's goof for not finding it at the 650 mile check, BUT that's a type of thing I should be inspecting before each ride.
Anyway, all is fine, and it won't cost me a dime, except for my time!
Only ONE motorcyclist stopped to offer help. He was riding a Harley. Nice guy.
