I have a friend that has what appears to be a 1970 RE 750 Interceptor for sale. The frame number appears to be 5527, and the engine number and gearbox number has BGA275 on both. There is a small decal just above the taillight assembly that says Elite Mtr Limited (something like that) Tooting, London. It would be very much appreciated if you could  enlighten me as to the bikes year or any other details, or point me to someone that might.

Regards
Michael Hall

Michael, you will find the engine number  high up on left side of the crankcase just below the cylider barrel. It should read 1B1234 for example. The matching frame number is on the left side of the headstock.  BGA275 is the gearbox number and is always stampe don the lower forward engine case as well. This then shows the engine and gearbox are the matched set that were installed on assembly
Go to yahoo - groups and search for the Royal Enfield Interceptor group, that's were most of us hang out.

Oops! Forgot to include that the frame number is prefaced with an F.
For example mine has frame number F1530 and engine number 1B1530.

The engine number on mine is 1A389 and the frame number is 389 so what year Interceptor would that be. It is titled as a 67. Thanks in advance.

Ray S, what you have is a 1967 Interceptor Mark 1 A. There were only 759 of that model built from 1967-68and1/2. That is when they went to the Interceptor series 2 motor that has the points in the end of the case like a Triumph, instead of behind the cylinder. I own a  1967 Interceptor Mark 1A.  Mine is 1A507.   Sorry Ray S, I didn't get the e-mail showing a reply to my other post,in another section, so this is kind of a repeat.       Hutch
