I got my bike back! I just want to say another HUGE thanks to Kevin, CMW and Il Motorino (Santa Cruz, CA) for taking care of me. I rode home in "break-in" mode on mostly 2-lane roads. I didn't want to stop! What is it about these bikes?

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I work a lot of weekends but I'm off next weekend! Should we start another Bay area ride thread?

That's great news olhogrider  ;D ;D

Those California back roads are the best way to go anyway.
Less traffic.  Better views.  Neat little unexpected places to see and almost no 18 wheelers barreling down on you blowing your bike out of its lane. :)

Glad you are on the road again.

Hey Folks,
Just a heads up, there's a great event in Sparks, Nevada starting August 31st. It's the International BBQ festival. I went there last year and it was off the hook ! Great ride through the back roads to Lake Tahoe, and then down into Sparks. Book a room at The Nugget, if there's any left. Great ride for the Royal Enfield.

I didn't want to ride the break in miles on the freeway to MotoGP so we took the car. Took over an hour for the bus ride to the parking lot and another four hours back to SF. Racing was great! I'll be riding th RE more this weekend.

I saw it on TV. Stoner's outside move around Lorenzo was teriffic. But when I saw him hobbling away from his Yamaha afterwards, I wonder why noone else was able to beat him, handicapped as he was. Time for Bradl to join the pack ;D

Ok. Name the time and place. Saturday or Sunday? I will still be breaking it in so I'll be taking it easy.

Thanks. I'll put some break in miles on this weekend. Anybody else want to ride along? Meet at the Starbucks at Cordelia around 10 am Saturday?

Ohhhh! Starbucks! Should I wear my Monocle? A Tux?  :D

Whatever happened to meeting at greasy spoon places? Something like "Big Al's house of pork".

How cool would it be to say, " Honey, I'm off to meet the boys for a ride. We are gonna meet at the diner "The severly beaten egg."

I need to open a place called "Moe's". ;D

Great new Olhog... wait... I can't remember why you were without your horse?  Did something near-catastrophic happen?

Incredibly jealous you got to see MotoGP live.  I can't even see it on TV - Apparently to get the speed channel the cable company wants me to sign up for a 150$ package. Criminal.

Have a good ride, Bay Area guys.

Funny you mention that.  Last weekend I visited the son in Eugene, OR.  The inspiration for Moe's Tavern was Max's where Simpson's creator Max Groening spent some of his youth.  The inside resembles the cartoon, but Moe is not there!  It is an old-school tavern with heat-up microwave food, popcorn, and pretzels plus very dark old wooded booths.  It is on 13th E about 3 blocks west of the U of Oregon campus.  Notice the "Go Ducks!" sign in the window.  I went once.  That was enough!  D'oh!
A Royal Enfield owner's cup is always half full.

Ok, I was just going for something easy to find. The Greasy Spoons are on the ride. I could have said the Chevron station. There is a Sunday ride from Saratoga that may wind up at Alice's but they like to ride fast.

The catastrophe that kept me off the bike for a few weeks was my stator contacting my rotor. That left metal shavings in the oil. Kevin decided to replace the entire engine. Now I have to ride slow for a few miles. So far 1thump has said he wants to go. Anybody else?

I can do that, or Costco on the other side of I-80. Where do we go from there ?
