The sight glass on my bike was weeping a little oil,  just enough to be a PITA.   With the support of forum brothers, I am glad to report everything is good, no leaky, engine is as tight as a bull frogs buttom!     Thanks r80rt, Kevin Mahoney, and ScooterBob for mentoring me through the repair.

A short description follows,

Remove the clip and slip the vent hose off.  (the clip came off just using my fingers)

Drain the oil, remove the oil filter.

Remove the battery cover.  Disconnect the battery (ground cable first) and remove it.

Follow the wires coming out of the cover to the connectors behind the engine and unplug them.

Take the nut off that holds the foot peg and slide it off.

Remove the 11 case cover bolts, and the cover should slip off.   (It might take a gentle tap with a plastic hammer to get it loose)

Have some rags and a drip pan handy, you'll need them.

The sight glass can be pushed out from the back side with very little pressure.

Clean the sight glass area with some brake cleaner and let it dry.

Install the sight glass wet with silicone sealer.  (It takes 24 hours to cure)
While the silicone was curing, I took a little time to reroute some of the wiring to relieve tension whenever possible, also did the oil filter cap mod.

Use a little heavy axle grease on the engine to hold the new gasket in place while you reinstall the side cover.   (my old gasket was still in one piece and attached to the side cover)

Put everything back together in reverse order.

Cheers,   ;)

On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

TwinOKC:

Glad to see your bike is up and running - without any leaks !  Now you have peace of mind that seeing glass will not fly off, while it is on the road.  Liked your write up - concise and clear.

Thanks for the kind words, I took pictures and had planned to post them but silly me didn't realize the limitations on this forum, explains why you and Scott post a link to youtube and picasa.   It's gonna take a little head scratchin before I can do that.    :)
