Hi All,

Prepared the C5 for the off tomorrow. Has just passed 6500 miles. Changed the chain as a precaution, checked rear brake linings (ok) and normal service. Lower rear engine mount bolt changed (again). Has snapped under nut head twice now, Rear tire/tyre marginal, but giving it a chance. Figure I'm not going to be using the middle much :)  Riding tomorrow to Portsmouth for the ferry to Santander , northern Spain, then riding east over the Pyrenees. Going to ride most of the passes used on the Tour De France, on the D918. Then to Millau, 1000ft high viaduct, further east to Mont Ventoux, Verdon Gorges (closest we have to the Grand Canyon), then to Col de la Bonette, highest road in Europe, 9193ft. Should test out the EFI mapping?
Route after that is Oradour-sur-Glane, Le Mans, then ferry back from Caen, Normandy on the 25th. Will attempt to post daily pics.

Feryy leaves 17:00, and takes 24 hours, and has a bar. In trouble already :)

Wish me luck!!!

Ray

And here I am stuck at my desk.  Didn't even ride in today with all the rain :(  [/grumpiness]

Have a great trip.  Good move on replacing the chain, that's no fun to do during a ride.

On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

Myself, my Wife and two other couples rented BMW's (1200GS) in Barcelona in 2005 and rode the Pyrenees.  Some great roads there but we were also very impressed by the hospitality of the locals.  We stayed mainly at local B&B's and were well looked after.

Have fun,

Oh yeah!  Have a Blast!  Photos and daily commentary (if you have time) will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a great trip. Wish I were there.
Shoulda changed that tire. It's amazing how fast tires wear out when your on a long ride!
Have a great time! Can't wait to see the reports and pics.

Nothing beats riding in the mountains! You'll certainly have a great time!
I didn't make it bejond 2000m myself yet, but I recognized only a slight power decrease at that altitude. All carb bikes I had lost much more.
Please make as many photos as possible! Ride safe!
