Bernie must be the most efficient publicity machine ever...

Lovely day rambling around the hills.  Mostluy open country with some dips into gorges.  Hilly and very winding, sometimes getting into fairly tight turns.
So, I was going down an incline awith a gorge on the left and cliff on the right, looking ahead at a turn I know is tighter so I apply some brake and just at that monoment hit a strip of gravel that had washed down from the  cliff.

The bike kept chugging while on it's side and I managed to crawl over and turn it off.  Oil was gushing from somewhere- I pray it was coming out of the vent tube and not a cracked case.  I haven't been able to bend over enough to really check the bike out yet.  Mostly cosmetic stuff like a HL ring and turn sigmals (I hope).

Something happened to my left-side ribs and it REALLY hurts to couph, blow my nose, etc.  I'm using my stomach muscles more now to protect my ribs and so most of my upper torso is sore.  The bummer is- I can't lay down.
My left inside shin has the bigest freaking hematoma I've ever see.  the whole leg from the knee down is totally swollen and the meatoma istelf is alarming.  Huge.  Deep purple.   I trust this will all pass with time.
I'm too old for this crap...  Thinking maybe I should get a CB125 or something extra light.
Run what ya brung

We weren.t makinhg light of the situation, but knowing he was okay lent itself to some unescapable puns.
I told him to go to the doctor, but he is too stubborn. Damn old fool. He needs to get checked out. I tried to tell him they'd only do a physical evaluation, not mental, so he'd slip by.
Bruised but not broken, Uncle Ernie prefers to suffer with his bullet wound rather than seek assistance.

None of that sounds too pleasant. Glad you can stand, even if you can't lie down. That's preferable in these circumstances, I think. Still, I'll pray for a hot nurse.

Yes Uncle Ernie.  Get your butt (and the rest of you) to a doctor.
He needs to check you out, especially the bruises and the ribs.

You really don't want a clot to break loose and go floating around in your system.  That's what killed my Father in Law.

Now listen up.  When it comes to doctors and hospitals, I'm as bad as they come.  Even here in the land of free health care, I let my health card expire, having no plans to make use of it.

But the injuries you describe need to get looked at, guy.  My NON MEDICAL opinion is you've got one or more cracked, hopefully not broken, ribs and, at the very least, bruised bones in the leg.

That's a best-case, and even those can present complications left untreated.

Anti-inflammatories are your friend - and so are we.   ;)

Uncle Ernie,

Go see a doctor and take care of your self!  You will heal faster and be back riding your motorsickle sooner.

I think this needs repeating.  I like it.  This one is for you Uncle Ernie.  Once more!    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g266Uwp6ZnI

Go to the DOC!!!  Took a spill similar to yours years ago on a Honda 750...No I don't have the bike any longer, I prefer my rig.

The bruise can look seriously nasty but what could be happening inside it is worse...blood clots...Not something to mess with. Ribs can heal but you do need to get yourself to the doctor to ultrasound the leg if nothing else.

With him being a diabetic and having other health issues, his bullet wounds might be more severe.
If anything happens to him, who will I have to harass? he owes it to me to get checked out and better.
He says he "doesn't have the money" to see a doctor. he can always go to the ER and speak with a spanish accent, or find a clinic.
If he realizes his bruised ribs will interfere with his hugging trees, perhaps we can convince him to seek help.
If he doesn't seek help, I may be forced to post his accident on adv forum, and let them jump on him.

Get to the doctor Ernie.

I agree go see Doc pronto..have broke or bruised all my ribs.  Not worth taking a chance with it.  Maybe you have a county health office that charges based on income..or maybe you have a friend that's a PA or something.  But I'll tell you for certain you need to breath as deep as you can so you don't get pneumonia, they don't wrap you up for busted or bruised ribs anymore.

  Keep us posted.

Wondering if the A-Ville sheriffs would check on him for us as a public service.

The dealership where he bought his bullet should have his full name on the sales invoice on file.
With that information, their police computers and a stop by the post office for updated mailing address, a deputy should be able to go check on him. for us.

The dealership went out of business.
He is living with someone, so someone is aware of how he is.
I checked the obituaries. Morbid, I know, but had to check.
I made a list of all his friends. One I can't locate, and the other I am running down now.
Maybe some news tonight.
