Thanks to scooterbob on all the help for the modified enfield panniers. But, I gotta do it my way. I'm going to make my own. Adventure in fabricating begins today. Figured some old ammo cans to start. Ruled out 20MM and 40MM grenade boxes too big. While at a surplus show today found two pristine 60mm mortar boxes. 12LX6wX16d. Going to start brackets tomorrow. I hope to post progress pics as I go along. As a side note. After a road trip the other day my tool kit now includes two adjustable wrenches and loctite. ;D

I made these carriers for my ammo cans.  http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/forum/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=3001. Just to give you some ideas,  these baskets were designed so you can pull the can out of the top,  and so that you can open them in llace on the bike.  They are made out of eighth inch by one inch steel strapping.   I have to make these again since the vibrated the welds apart and one of them apart while I was riding.  When I do it again they will be made from more continuous pieces instead of many little pieces.

Good luck, have fun.  Take pictures and do a write up of the process if you can.

nice set up on those boxes. 60% of brackets done. Will attempt to post pics. They will be a 3 bolt system for on and off. Finding paint was the hardest. Krylon Lt. forest green camo. Plus they have clear coat in FLAT. Back to sanding.

Switched to krylon camo olive. Tried it on a couple of parts. Damn close. Waiting for star decals for sides of boxes. She goes in this week for first service (official) I did the oil myself at 300 miles. At 500 now.

Bags on. Bolt holes in boxes sealed with silicone. SS bolts. Three bolts to remove if wanted. Rear bracket is attached via a shaft collar. Same type used to stop pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders. Lots of nylon lock nuts and loctite(red). Went to Walmart (Wally world here). Filled bags with stuff and rode. ;D ;D

Thanks ;D On my ride today I stopped for a drink. When I went back to my bike. A couple of people taking pictures. This isn't the only time it has happened. By the way the drink was iced coffee. Mmm Dunkin Donuts. ;)
